Chris Pine: Rise of the Guardians is like Avengers for kids

Nov 26 2012, 10:00am CST | by

Chris Pine says his new movie 'Rise of the Guardians' is like superhero action flick 'The Avengers' for children.

Chris Pine says 'Rise of the Guardians' is like 'The Avengers' for children.
The 'Star Trek' actor likened his latest project - Dreamworks' animated film about children's characters including Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy teaming up against the evil Boogeyman - to the hit superhero team-up movie.
Chris, 32, told Digital Spy: ''I think, credit to Bill Joyce for coming up with an idea which all of us wish we had, which is all these characters that our parents taught us about as children... The idea that they may know each other and are kind of like 'The Avengers' for children.
''I think it's a brilliant idea. Obviously, Santa was the big bearded man who gave me toys at Christmas. I loved the re-imagining. When I saw the original artwork of the 'naughty' and the 'nice', I just thought it was genius.''
'Rise of the Guardians' is based on a children's book by William Joyce and features the voices of Chris, Hugh Jackman, Alec Baldwin, Jude Law and Isla Fisher.
'The Avengers' - which united Marvel superheroes Iron Man, Thor, the Incredible Hulk and Captain America - was a box office hit in the summer, grossing more than $1 billion worldwide.
'Rise of the Guardians' is out on Friday (30.11.12).

Carnahan's been promoting the film heavily on Twitter. Read the full article on AICN Like I said on Tuesday, Joe Carnahan has been undeterred by Universal's demotion from a March theatrical release to an October VOD drop, and has been promoting his STRETCH via the film's official Twitter account. Chris Pine Needs Wilfred Brimley’s Mustache in Nutty STRETCH Gag Reel

Sep 12 2014 3:52pm CDT | Source: Collider

Director Joe Carnahan’s action-comedy Stretch was one of my most anticipated films of this spring, so I was quite disappointed when Universal decided to abandon the film’s theatrical release plan at the last minute.  Thankfully, the movie is finally set to be released VOD next month, and Carnahan has been doing a fantastic job of handling the film’s marketing duties by himself.  The story revolves around a down-on-his-luck chauffeur (Patrick Wilson) who attempts to relieve ...

First Clips from Joe Carnahan’s STRETCH Feature Patrick Wilson, Chris Pine, Scotch, Norman Reedus, Blood, a String of Pearls, and Ed Helms

Sep 11 2014 8:45pm CDT | Source: Collider

We got our first glimpse at images from Joe Carnahan's newest film Stretch just about a week ago, but the movie's social media campaign has been going bonkers since then.  There have been plenty of alt-posters, behind-the-scenes images revealing cameos and guest stars, and lots of general blanket insanity.  Now, the first clips from the film are making their way online, and boy are they delightfully strange.  They're short, but ...

Watch: 'Star Trek Into Darkness' Gag Reel Full of Cast Flubs & Dancing

Sep 11 2014 3:50pm CDT | Source: First Showing

For some reason, with only two films in the rebooted Star Trek franchise, someone at Paramount Pictures decided it was a good time to release Star Trek: The Compendium. Since it only has Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness on Blu-Ray along with a whole slew of extras for each film, we're not sure that we'd call that a compendium, but whatever. The good thing to come out of it are some unseen e ...

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS Blooper Reel Featuring Cast Dance Party

Sep 11 2014 11:17am CDT | Source: Collider

The sooner Star Trek 3 happens, the better.  Why?  Because we need another one of these blooper reels.  Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch and co. get pretty serious in the film, but on the set of Star Trek Into Darkness there’s jokes, line flubs and even some pretty impressive dance moves. The blooper reel is actually part of Star Trek: The Compendium, a four-disc Blu-ray box set that comes with the ...
