Iron Man 3 won't be 'serious'

Nov 25 2012, 10:02am CST | by

Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige says 'Iron Man 3' will be different to the other films in the franchise and won't be ''serious''.

'Iron Man 3' will not be a ''serious movie''.
Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige insists the latest installment in the franchise will take some ''very unique directions'' which will include further exploration of Robert Downey Jr.'s character Tony Stark.
He said: ''It's not a serious movie, but we seriously dig into exploring more of Tony. The trick is just trying to make great movies. We try to make them all great, all different and all fresh. What you'll see in 'Iron Man 3' is some very unique directions that were taken.''
'Iron Man 3' director Shane Black admits the crew are simply aiming to make the superhero action movie ''fresh and different'' rather than compete with this year's 'Avengers Assemble', which saw Iron Man team up with fellow superheroes Captain America (Chris Evans), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth).
He explained: ''We're not aiming for bigger, necessarily. We're aiming for different and fresh and new.
''It's all about capturing that lightening in a bottle feel, about trying to get as much into this as we can. We're looking to get a ton of thrills into a short space, to make a nice little stew for you.''
Robert believes it was the ''right'' time to release 'Avengers Assemble' and he hopes 'Iron Man 3' will taste similar success to the superhero film when it drops next year.
He said: ''You can dissect why it was the right movie with the right people and the right director at the time. But we feel the same way about 'Iron Man 3' now.''

On June 12th 2014, I visited the London set of The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Today we’ll be posting a couple of the interviews we conducted while on set. The first is with Robert Downey Jr, who is reprising his role as Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. You can listen to or read the whole interview after the jump, but I wanted to lead off with Downey Jr’s explanation of why Avengers 2 won’t fall into the superhero/blockbuster fo ...

Oct 27 2014 4:52pm CDT | Source: movie fanatic

In the Marvel comic books, The Avengers were an ever-changing group of superheroes where sometimes individuals would come and go to deal with their own personal storylines and return for a huge Avengers adventure. But, there was always an Avengers unit doing something, and that appears to be the model with the cinematic world too. Given what we saw in the Avengers: Age of Ultron teaser trailer, s ...

POTD: The One Thing That Never Changes for Tony Stark

Oct 24 2014 4:30pm CDT | Source: Slash Film

Over the past six years, we’ve seen Robert Downey Jr.‘s Tony Stark go through all sorts of crap. He’s been captured and imprisoned, fallen in love, made new superpowered friends, struggled with booze, battled aliens, developed PTSD, removed his arc reactor, and through it all become a slightly better person than he was in the first Iron Man. But some things about the character will never change. He’ll always mouth off the first chance h ...

Oct 22 2014 9:47pm CDT | Source: movie fanatic

The Avengers: Age of Ultron teaser trailer is here, and yes, it's a little earlier than was promised.  Just yesterday, we reported that Marvel was going to air the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer during the broadcast of its show Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but clearly we've got it a little early. And we are beyond excited and clearly not complaining.  The teaser is narrated by James Spader, which is an interesting turn of events -- given that he plays our vil ...
