Russell Crowe got Hugh Jackman Wolverine part

Nov 23 2012, 10:01am CST | by

Russell Crowe has admitted he suggested Hugh Jackman would be the perfect fit for the part of Wolverine in 'X-Men'.

Russell Crowe got Hugh Jackman the role of Wolverine.
The 'Noah' star was initially targeted to portray the 'X-Men' character, but when he turned down the film, he suggested producer Bryan Singer spoke to the 'Real Steel' star instead.
He explained to the Grill Team on Australian radio station Triple M 104.9FM: ''Bryan Singer asked Rusty to do Wolverine, and he said, 'Nah mate I've just done 'Gladiator', it's not for me but you should look at this guy...' ''
Hugh is a big fan of Russell, both personally and professionally, and says he has learned a lot from his friend.
He said: ''He's a great guy in every way, I have so much time for him and to watch him work, everyone says he is a great actor, when you actually get to work with someone like that... He's that good when it matters, in that moment, in that close up tough moment, you just sit back and watch you know someone's got that confidence and is going to deliver. I learnt a lot from him.''
Hugh will next appear in James Mangold's sixth instalment of the 'X-Men' franchise, 'The Wolverine', in July 2013.

Crowe, Sandler Were Original "Collateral" Stars

Sep 26 2014 9:32pm CDT | Source: dark horizons

There has been much debate over Michael Mann's films over the past decade-and-a-half, though one that seems to be universally liked is 2004's "Collateral". At one time though, it turns out neither Tom Cruise or Jamie Foxx were slated to star. Instead, it was going to be a vehicle for Adam Sandler and Russell Crowe. Talking about his upcoming cyber warfare thriller "Blackhat," Mann tells THR: "Nothing's wrong with Adam Sandler, but it ...

WINTER’S TALE Blu-ray Review

Sep 2 2014 7:00am CDT | Source: Collider

Quentin Tarantino has complained about how one of the biggest problems with American cinema is that it’s afraid of big emotions.  Of melodrama that might descend into camp (or perhaps is camp to begin with).  And it’s true, more movies are likely to adapt an ironic distance than go for something earnest.  There’s a reason for that: when earnest doesn’t work, you get films like The Postman and The Room.  But that means some material just isn ...

Shane Black to Direct THE DESTROYER Adaptation for Sony

Aug 21 2014 1:30pm CDT | Source: Collider

It was pretty much a given that Kiss Kiss Bang Bang helmer Shane Black would have some heat coming off of directing the $1.5 billion-grossing Iron Man 3, but the guy is amassing a seriously stacked docket of upcoming projects.  The latest one to be added is an adaptation of the long-running Warren Murphy book series The Destroyer.  Sony Pictures announced today that Black will direct a feature film adaptation of the adventure series, with Fight Club scribe Jim Uhls penning the screenplay alo ...

Akiva Goldsman May Pen New Draft of THE RING 3D

Aug 21 2014 11:24am CDT | Source: Collider

Yes, Akiva Goldsman is an Academy Award-winning screenwriter, but have you seen Winter’s Tale?  That’s the kind of movie that is so bad, it could wind up becoming a warped classic for that very reason.  In fact, the group I saw it with still hasn’t stopped talking about it.  “I like pecans,” “I have a chicken,” Colin Farrell’s haircut, Russell Crowe’s finger-painting – the list of absurdities cou ...
