Robert Rodriguez film could be blocked

Robert Rodriguez could be prevented from releasing 'Machete Kills' following a lawsuit filed by Overnight Productions.

Robert Rodriguez could be prevented from releasing 'Machete Kills'.
Overnight Productions - the company behind the 2010 movie 'Machete' - have filed a complaint over the rights to the project and are seeking to terminate the agreement they made with the director-and-producer in April 2012 in which they agreed he could make a follow-up film through his Quick Draw Productions and are also looking for $2 million in damages.
Overnight Productions claim they were not provided with Texas tax credit information as required under the agreement and have also experienced difficulties over the fee owned to their owner Rick Schwartz.
The suit, which has been obtained by Deadline.com, states: ''Defendants have also failed and refused to provide the required budget information to Overnight Productions so that it can determine the producer fee owed with respect to the sequel''.
'Machete Kills' - the second in a planned trilogy from the director - sees Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez return alongside Charlie Sheen, who plays the US President, Lady Gaga, Amber Heard, Mel Gibson and Sofia Vergara.
'Machete Kills' is scheduled for release in spring 2013.
