Robert Rodriguez film could be blocked

Nov 21 2012, 2:05am CST | by

Robert Rodriguez could be prevented from releasing 'Machete Kills' following a lawsuit filed by Overnight Productions.

Robert Rodriguez could be prevented from releasing 'Machete Kills'.
Overnight Productions - the company behind the 2010 movie 'Machete' - have filed a complaint over the rights to the project and are seeking to terminate the agreement they made with the director-and-producer in April 2012 in which they agreed he could make a follow-up film through his Quick Draw Productions and are also looking for $2 million in damages.
Overnight Productions claim they were not provided with Texas tax credit information as required under the agreement and have also experienced difficulties over the fee owned to their owner Rick Schwartz.
The suit, which has been obtained by Deadline.com, states: ''Defendants have also failed and refused to provide the required budget information to Overnight Productions so that it can determine the producer fee owed with respect to the sequel''.
'Machete Kills' - the second in a planned trilogy from the director - sees Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez return alongside Charlie Sheen, who plays the US President, Lady Gaga, Amber Heard, Mel Gibson and Sofia Vergara.
'Machete Kills' is scheduled for release in spring 2013.

Jul 28 2014 2:51pm CDT | Source: Screen Rant

Fans have been waiting nine years for Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s follow-up to 2005′s blistering adaptation of Miller’s Sin City graphic novel series, a movie Roger Ebert described as “a convention at the movie museum in Quentin Tarantino’s subconscious.” The movie was every bit as hyper-stylized as the source material, an apologetically twisted and violent comic book film. We’ve already seen two trai ...

Jul 28 2014 10:40am CDT | Source: Collider

Though he is not exactly a household name, Frank Miller is still one most singular and influential storytellers of the last 40 years.  His miniseries The Dark Knight Returns redefined the character, allowing for more cerebral and experimental efforts like Grant Morrison’s phantasmagoric Batman: Arkham Asylum.  Coupled with Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns helped pave the way for a whole generation of adult-oriented ...
