Alexander Skarsgard tipped for Tarzan role

Nov 15 2012, 4:14am CST | by

Alexander Skarsgard is tipped to take the lead role in 'Tarzan' ahead of Henry Cavill, Charlie Hunnam and Tom Hardy.

Alexander Skarsgard is tipped to take the lead role in 'Tarzan'.
The 'True Blood' actor has been linked with the role of the heroic adventurer alongside Henry Cavill, Charlie Hunnam and Tom Hardy, but director David Yates is said to have made his casting preference known.
However, Alexander is yet to receive an offer and studio Warner Bros. have not given approval to the film.
The movie - which has been redrafted by Adam Cozad - will see Tarzan, AKA John Clayton III, living back in England after being assimilated back into society.
He is asked by Queen Victoria to travel to the Congo and team up with George Washington Williams, a civil War veteran-turned-mercenary - to tackle a fierce warlord, who has seized control of a huge diamond mine and is threatening to cause trouble.
According to Variety, the filmmaker wants to cast Samuel L. Jackson in the role of the mercenary, but no offers have yet been made.
Jerry Weintraub is set to produce the feature after developing it for several years and though David has taken on the project, reports say Craig Brewer was initially tapped to do the job.
This big screen adaptation will be the second of Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic novel, with the first being the 1999 Disney animation.
In the meantime Henry can be seen playing Superman in next year's movie 'Man of Steel' and Charlie is starring in sci-fi flick 'Pacific Rim' as well as 'Deadfall'.

Review: The Giver: Sometimes beautiful, but hugely flawed

Aug 14 2014 6:26pm CDT | Source: movie pilot

Let me preface this up front with saying that I have never read Lois Lowry's The Giver, not even in elementary school where books like this were a standard part of the curriculum. Despite that, I really wanted to like the movie adaptation. I knew it deviated fairly heavily from the original story, of which I was ignorant, and went into it knowing only the summary of the story. Let me repeat again: I really, truly wanted to like it. And ...

THE GIVER Clip: Hologram Taylor Swift Plays Piano

Aug 9 2014 10:44am CDT | Source: Collider

The Weinstein Company has released a new The Giver clip from director Philip Noyce’s adaptation of the Lois Lowry novel, this time featuring Taylor Swift.  I’m still not sure what to make of the film as a whole.  I read the book as a kid and enjoyed it immensely, but it’s been marketed heavily as a kind of Hunger Games riff.  I’m not sure if this is simply a case of getting audiences into the theater or if the trailers are really indicative of the film, but ...

True Blood: Trailer for the Final Five Episodes

Jul 26 2014 10:17pm CDT | Source: ign

The cast of HBO's True Blood (everyone except star Alexander Skarsgard really) appeared at Comic-Con today to bid farewell to their fans. With the show ending in a few weeks, this was their last Con - a fact that brought actress Kristin Bauer van Straten (Pam) to tears on several occasions. At the end of the panel, and after many cast members shared their fondest True Blood memories, the fans were treated to a trailer for the final five series episodes. Check it ...

Warners' "Tarzan" More Sequel Than Origin Tale

Jul 16 2014 12:07pm CDT | Source: Dark Horizons

Warner Bros. Pictures have released a new official synopsis for David Yates' upcoming "Tarzan" film featuring "True Blood" hunk Alexander Skarsgard as the king of the jungle himself. Interestingly though, the synopsis confirms they're opting for a different approach to previous adaptations of the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel - this one serving as kind of a sequel rather than an origi ...

'The Strain' recap: These vampires aren't sexy; they're just deadly

Jul 14 2014 7:30am CDT | Source: la times

The vampires in FX’s new thriller, “The Strain,” are not -- repeat, not -- romantic. They’re not brooding or conflicted or passionate or sparkly. They do not pout, pose or toss off come-hither glances. And not a single one of them looks anything like Alexander Skarsgard.  ...
