Jack Nicholson courted for The Judge

Jack Nicholson is being courted to play Robert Downey Jr.'s father in his next project, legal drama 'The Judge'.

Jack Nicholson is being courted to play Robert Downey Jr.'s father in 'The Judge'.
Warner Bros. has reportedly made an unofficial offer to the 75-year-old veteran actor to star in the drama/comedy, being developed by Robert's Team Downey production company.
The film will see a successful lawyer, played by Robert, returning to his hometown for his mother's funeral only to discover his estranged father - the town's judge, who is stricken with Alzheimer's disease - is the main murder suspect.
The lawyer decides to represent his dad in court, and in the process finds something new and more decent within himself and reconnects with the family he walked out on years before.
Jack is notoriously picky when it comes to the acting roles he takes - having only made only seven films in the last decade - so it may be hard to get him on board, but sources are hopeful he will commit and say he is due to meet Robert this week.
The script was originally written by Nick Schenk and is to be given a rewrite by Bill Dubuque. David Dobkin is rumoured to be in the frame to co-produce and direct.
Robert has recently finished filming 'Iron Man 3' and is said to want 'The Judge' to be his next film.

Watch Robin Williams Improvise a Hilarious 13-Minute Routine from the Early '80s

Sep 9 2014 12:49pm CDT | Source: yahoo

Among Robin Williams’ many gifts was an unparalleled ability to create comedy out of thin air. Working off a very basic premise (“Robin” is supposed to be shooting a promotional spot for TV director Howard Storm — but can’t keep his jokes in check), Williams invents a completely new routine for every take. He becomes Charlton Heston, Jack Nicholson, Diana Ross, and Barbra Streisand. It’s as inspiring to watch, as it is exhausting.  At the time this video was shot, Williams was beg ...

The Top 10 Greatest Movies Ever (In my Opinion)

Sep 8 2014 5:21am CDT | Source: movie pilot

wI've been watching movies since the day I was born and I thought I would finally share my infinite film wisdom gained from many moons sitting on a couch with you good people so that they too may learn to leave permanent imprints in your furniture. Anyways, here's a list of the 10 movies I would watch on my death bed, if they can install a television in my death bed so I can watch them as my bed plummets down an enormous ramp at the speed of sound as I attempt ...

Toronto: How Ted Melfi Got His Bill Murray Prayers Answered On ‘St. Vincent’

Sep 5 2014 5:28pm CDT | Source: Deadline

As his directorial debut St. Vincent is unveiled tonight in a gala Weinstein Company premiere at Toronto, and with a Sony adaptation of J.R. Moeringer's The Tender Bar and a New Line remake of Going With Style percolating, Ted Melfi is hot stuff. But this weekend is all about Bill Murray, and it seems worth remembering how much that actor, with an assist from Jack Nicholson, is responsible for helping Melfi rise from that deep pool of writers who believe they' ...

Watch: Are These the 100 Most Iconic Shots in Movie History?

Sep 3 2014 12:05pm CDT | Source: movies.com

Film is a visual medium, so it makes sense that cinema history is filled with countless unforgettable shots and sequences. The folks over at CineFix tackled the unenviable task of trying to cull over a century’s worth of the stunning sequences down to a measly 100 that comprise the greatest of all time. Interestingly enough, the video that is the fruit of their labor proves they basically nailed the assignment. No small feat, given the sheer number of potential candidates. ...

Robin Williams' Batman Near Misses! The Riddler? The Joker? Hugo Strange?

Aug 15 2014 6:53am CDT | Source: movie pilot

"I would work with Chris again in a second, playing anyone in anything. I’d play The Riddler in the next Batman, although it’d be hard to top Heath as the villain, and I’m a little hairy for tights. Plus, the Batman films have screwed me twice before: years ago they offered me The Joker and then gave it to Jack Nicholson, then they offered me The Riddler and gave it to Jim Carrey. I’d be like, “Okay, is this a real offer? If it ...

Paging Mr. Bill Murray: Toronto Wants To Honor You With ‘St Vincent’ Gala, But Cannot Find You

Jul 30 2014 12:13pm CDT | Source: Deadline

To a distributor launching a prestige film in the fall, a berth in the first weekend of the Toronto Film Festival is like finding a Golden Ticket in a Wonka Bar. Toronto organizers want to do just that for the Ted Melfi-directed comedy St Vincent before its October 24 bow, and they also want to turn the premiere into a celebration honoring the work of its star, Bill Murray. Here’s the challenge: nobody has been able to get hold of him. He has no agent, he’s g ...
