Guillermo del Toro wants Star Wars directing role

Guillermo del Toro wants to direct 'Star Wars: Episode VII' and admits he is trying not to think about the possibility of helming the forthcoming sci-fi movie just in case he doesn't get asked.

Guillermo del Toro wants to direct 'Star Wars: Episode VII'.
The 48-year-old helmer has issued a come and get me plea to Disney - who are developing a new series of the sci-fi movies after purchasing LucasFilm from George Lucas for an estimated $4 billion - but he is trying not to think about the possibility of helming the film in case he doesn't get asked.
Speaking to blog Fanhattan, he said: ''You know, I saw it on the internet, but I haven't approached them, they haven't formally approached me.
''I mean, I heard some rumblings, but to me it's really - I have so many projects to discuss or think about. [For] something that is not a possibility yet, I don't do that. You know, because I have so many things that I need to catch up with.
''If this ever becomes a reality, and there's an approach to do it, I would then think about it, but - it's like thinking if I want to date a supermodel. I don't think about these things.''
Michael Arndt has already started writing the script for 'Star Wars: Episode VII', but 'Star Trek' director J.J. Abrams will not be directing the movie after he recently ruled himself out of the job.
Carrie Fisher - who played Princess Leia in the original 'Star Wars' trilogy from 1977 to 1983 - has admitted she would like to reprise her role if asked by Disney, and Harrison Ford, who played Han Solo in the same three films, is ''open'' to returning to the franchise.

Charlie Hunnam has explained why he dropped out of the forthcoming adaptation of Fifty Shades Of Grey, with the star explaining that his scheduling pileup proved too much of an obstacle. With Sons Of Anarchy continuing to dominate a lot of his time, and Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak also on his slate, the Fifty Shades Of Grey shoot was set to be demanding at the very least… “I was going to finish Sons at like 11p.m. Friday night, get on the plane ...

The Strain: "For Services Rendered" Review

Aug 24 2014 10:04pm CDT | Source: ign

Note: Full spoilers for the episode follow. This first season of The Strain has been a herky-jerky viewing experience. The Guillermo del Toro-directed pilot had some spectacular imagery and creepy moments, but also featured the clunky dialogue and plot-convenient decision making by some characters that has dogged the series so far. That special attention to the horror aspect of the series has paid off for the most part, with the scares being earned rather than just cheap “boo!” ...

Hideo Kojima has explained one of the P.T. demo's mysteries: the name of the fake developer initially said to be developing the game, 7780s Studio. Aug 13 2014 5:37pm CDT | Source: movies.com

El Rey Network has been doing some pretty cool things since it launched earlier this year (like recently signing a deal to broadcast 255 martial arts movies from the Shaw Brothers collection), but our favorite has to be their The Director's Chair series where Robert Rodriguez sits down some heavy hitter filmmaker friends for a lengthy interview. Most recently Guillermo del Toro sat in The Director's Chair and tonight (August 13, 9 PM EST) it will be Quentin Tarantino's ...
