Sigourney Weaver's close encounter with gorilla

Nov 12 2012, 12:05am CST | by

Sigourney Weaver was ''really brave'' when she came face-to-face with real gorillas in 'Gorillas in the Mist', according to ape impersonator Peter Elliott.

Sigourney Weaver was ''really brave'' when she came face-to-face with real gorillas in 'Gorillas in the Mist'.
The 63-year-old actress played physiotherapist Dian Fossey in the 1988 US drama movie, which saw her star ''right in amongst'' real primates, and ape impersonator Peter Elliott - who played a costumed gorilla in the motion picture - is full of praise for her ''amazing'' heroics in the film.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: ''Sigourney Weaver was really brave in 'Gorillas in the Mist'. About 50 per cent of the shots are real gorillas and some of the ones you see Sigourney in are with real gorillas. She was really right in amongst the gorillas and it was quite amazing.''
The movement actor - who has worked with the likes of Marlon Brando, Martin Freeman, Spike Jonze and John Cleese - helped teach Ray Winstone how to walk like a dwarf in this year's fantasy film 'Snow White and the Huntsman', and he admits it was hilarious watching the 55-year-old actor try to learn each movement.
He added: ''Teaching Ray to walk like a dwarf was quite funny, he was a great laugh. They all were on that picture, really. It was a change for me doing dwarves instead of apes and creatures.
''What you learn by having to study chimps and gorillas is that it's a methodology of how to watch it and then how to teach it and it becomes a transferable skill.''
Peter Elliott plays the part of Mr.B the monkey in the new innovative Barclaycard campaign that showcases its contactless and mobile payment solutions. For more info visit Barclaycard.co.uk/paying

Aug 21 2014 3:40am CDT | Source: movie pilot

Recently we were served up another pitifull chapter to the Expendable franchise and this time it was probably the poorest addition yet with Stallone taking his own concept of having some ancient washed up throwawy action stars from a forgetfull bygone era, and swapping them out mid movie for some young guns... I mean come on Sly what the hell these shitty movies were your idea in the first place you giant horses ...

Toby Kebbell Rounds Out Cast of ‘A Monster Calls’ Movie Adaptation

Aug 19 2014 7:30pm CDT | Source: Slash Film

A Monster Calls, the children’s fantasy novel by Patrick Ness, have paved the way to the A Monster Calls movie, and the cast is shaping up to be excellent. This week has seen a parade of new names attached to the film, and the latest is Toby Kebbell. You didn’t even see Kebbel, per se, in his most recent film, when he was spectacular as the antagonist Koba in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. But Kebbell has been reliably good in many other films prior to that, and we’re looking ...

Fox has released two stills from the highly anticipated Ridley Scott biblical epic Exodus: Gods and Kings. The first photo (in the slideshow below) features Christian Bale as Moses and it looks like he is more than ready for a fight. The second photo features Sigourney Weaver, who portrays the mother to Joel Edgerton’s Ramses, who also serves as a type of adoptive mother to Bale’s Moses. See, Ramses and Moses were raised like and act like bro ...

Sigourney Weaver Brings “Va-Va-Voom” to Ancient Egypt in New EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS Images

Aug 19 2014 1:00pm CDT | Source: Collider

20th Century Fox has released a couple of new Exodus: Gods and Kings images from director Ridley Scott’s Biblical epic.  One of these new images gives us a closer look at Sigourney Weaver, who plays Tuya, the mother of Joel Edgerton’s Ramses.  Costume designer Janty Yates tells EW that Scott wanted the character to be “va-va-voom,” likening her to Jessica Rabbit—a woman on the prowl.  It’s a curious choice for the Biblical epic, though the rest of the cast is a bit stylized as well, with Edge ...

Joel Edgerton On "Exodus" Whitewashing Claims

Aug 18 2014 3:12pm CDT | Source: dark horizons

When the trailer hit for Ridley Scott's new Biblical epic "Exodus: Gods and Kings," one of the results was an unexpected social media backlash against the apparent "whitewashing" of the cast. Specifically it was the casting of Egyptian royalty, Joel Edgerton as Ramses and Sigourney Weaver as Queen Tuya, that were singled out. Appearing at the closing night of the Melbourne International Film Festival to present his ne ...

Stallone Says Expendabelles Might be Part of a Divorce

Aug 8 2014 10:34am CDT | Source: ign

For Sylvester Stallone, the question of what goes into a female-biased instalment in his Expendables franchise is a tough one. “With The Expendabelles, we’re in uncharted waters,” he says. “To put all women together, will that really work? Do you have to put in some women that are actually really known to be tough – other MMA fighters ? Or are the Expendabelles really part of a divorce, with Sigourney Weaver as my wife and she’s inherited half of the Expendables?” Stallone is laughing ...

Film Chauvinist Asks: Do We Want An Estrogen-Powered ‘Ghostbusters?’

Aug 3 2014 11:31am CDT | Source: Deadline

Sony has tried and failed to conjure a new Ghostbusters so many times, it’s not surprising they would embrace a daring new take from femme-friendly comedy director Paul Feig. Most famous for Bridesmaids and The Heat, Feig wants to transfer that formula for a Ghostbusters reboot that would be driven by girl ghost hunters. That turns on its ear the original construct that consisted of three earnest ghost chasers (Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson) led by a disreputable m ...
