Channing Tatum to Play the Role of “Merman” in Disney’s Splash Opposite Jillian Bell

Tatum and Bell to appear in Remake of Disney Splash.

Splash was one of famous romantic comedies of 1980s. It was released in 1984 and now Disney is all set to remake this movie. Disney is currently in discussions with Imagine Entertainment which is owned by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard. The new lead cast of movie will include Channing Tatum and Jillian Bell, according to Variety. The remake will be written by Maria Lewis-Ryan.

The original movie which was released in 1984 had Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah as lead stars. Daryl Hannah played the role of a mermaid. The story followed the plot when the mermaid saved the life of Hanks while he was drowning in sea. Later on they develop a friendship which bloomed in to a romantic relation.

The remake of Splash will come with a twist. As Channing Tatum will be the one to play the role of sea inhabitant. He will be seen playing the role of a merman who will rescue Bell from drowning. Later on they will meet again after many years where they will fell in love with each other.

This movie was a major hit when it was released and later on became the reason of establishment of Imagine Entertainment. Anna Culp from Imagine Entertainment will be the executive producer of this movie.

Tatum was busy earlier with the movie “Kingsman: The Golden Circle”. He has wrapped up the movie and is about to go for a new one which is “Logan Lucky”. Tatum is represented by UTA and Management 360.

Bell on the other hand will be seen in “Office Christmas Party” which is a movie by DreamWorks. She is represented by 3 Arts Entertainment and UTA.
