Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them May Have Harry Potter Characters or Not?
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them already contains reference to iconic Harry Potter character and inclusion of more characters might not be far.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has already struck all the nostalgic chords with the Harry Potter fans. Screen writer and author J.K. Rowling, director David Yates and producer David Heyman made sure that the spin-off movie should resonate with the iconic Wizarding World that was introduced in the Harry Potter series but in a very American way.
Hence we see the lead character Newt Scamander roaming the streets of New York when his nifty but magical brief case full of magical creatures lets some magical creatures escape and cause considerable disorder in the American Wizarding World.
While we have seen a completely new cast for the movie including Eddie Redmayne, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Katherine Waterston, Colin Farrell, Ezra Miller, Ron Perlman, Samantha Morton, Carmen Ejogo and Jon Voight; Harry Potter fans could not help but wonder whether any Harry Potter characters would ever become a part of the spin off trilogy which Warner Bros. announced.
We got our first ray of hope in the trailer released at the MTV Movie Awards where we get a voice over from Colin Farrell as Percival Graves when he gives us an intro of what he thinks about Newt Scamander and that is where we get to hear Professor Dumbledore’s name.
We all know Professor Dumbledore as the Headmaster and Harry’s guide in finding the Horcruxes but the Fantastic Beast movie premise is set way before that time and we can anticipate that at that time, Dumbledore was only a professor at the school.
Remaining true to his character, Graves indicates that Dumbledore was against the expulsion of Scamander from Hogwarts and believed in him. This wasn’t irregular for the Dumbledore we know because Hagrid mentioned time and again that Dumbledore had insisted on keeping him in the school and helped him even after he had been expelled.
Talking to Dan Fogler and Allison Sudol who are playing Jacob Kowalski and Queenie Goldstein in the movie at CinemaCon, the stars revealed little about what we might expect from the trilogy. Fogler told MTV in an interview that he could not reveal anything but Sudol said that there might be some possibility of hearing or seeing some familiar character over the course of three movies.
As the movies are set before the Harry Potter time, we might see the younger version of the older characters in the movies. At this point we can only keep our fingers crossed that Rowling figures in some of the familiar Harry Potter characters into this new trilogy.
