Dave Franco tells us what it was like to audition to play the role of the younger version of the beloved character Han Solo.
Dave Franco is one of the actors that has auditioned and is in consideration to play the role of the younger version of the space pirate Han Solo. Played originally by Harrison Ford in George Lucas’s created Star Wars.
We have seen the character develop in the original trilogy of Star Wars where he teams up with Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker to help destroy the Death Star and earn a medal of honour. In the latest installment, we bid farewell to the character but Disney and Lucasfilm have already announced that the movie franchise has currently opened up a lot of possibilities for prequels and sequels.
A prequel Rogue One will hit the theatres later this year while Star Wars Episode VIII will hit the theatres next year.
So the idea about a Han Solo movie wasn’t far behind and it is a prequel. Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo movie has been announced by Disney and Lucasfilm.
The production is set to start shortly after the currently shooting Star Wars: Episode VIII finishes up. With Phil Lord and Chris Miller as directors and Lawrence and Jon Kasdan serving as the screenplay writers, the movie will show how Han Solo and his co-pilot Chewbacca became smugglers before their fateful run-in with Luke, Ben and their two droids.
For that the studios has been auditioning a variety of actor and among them was the 30 years old comedic actor, Dave Franco. Dave recollected his experience saying that he auditioned for Jeanie McCarthy with whom he had auditioned before.
He told MTV that most people ask what it was like but he himself is not sure at this point and he is not sure whether he had even gotten the role. Talking about his performance, he said that he is not great with imitations and he had to ask the studio if they wanted something close to Ford’s characterization or are they going a completely different route with the character.
No matter how good anyone can imitate or play the character, Ford’s version is always going to overshadow the role. Other actors being considered for the part include Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, Emory Cohen, Alden Ehrenreich, Jack Reynor, Jack O’ Connell, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, Blake Jenner and Taron Egerton.
There are also rumours that Han Solo’s brother casting is also involved in the process. The fans should hear an official casting announcement soon. The release date for the movie has been set at May, 2018.
