A new fun little video nugget has been launched today. There is a new 360 degree video sequence set on Jakku. This has come online through Facebook. The video gives the fans the opportunity to ride along on Rey’s speeder across the harsh desert terrain.

Fans can look at the various structures and creatures as they ride along using either their mouse or the touchscreen on a mobile device. Jakku has become one of Lucasfilm’s bigger pushes in the Star Wars cannon.

Fans can take the 360 experience video so they can get a better idea about the scope of Jakku. Then there is a cameo from new fan favorite droid BB-8. Trying to locate him will be a fun game for the fans. The video is created by ILM’s virtual reality lab.

The only downside of the video is that it is just under one minute. This gives the fan a limited amount of time to explore Jakku. This is a part of a new drive by Facebook to put 360 video on timelines. The plan is that any user with the right camera/phone to be able to upload footage using the system. At the moment it only works on limited browsers and Android devices.

The Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released in the UK on December 17th while in US it is December 18th.
