The reaction of Bond fans on Twitter are mixed. Writing’s On The Wall has the typical bombastic sound of Bond theme songs. It is a bit slow though. Writing’s On The Wall is already available for pre-order here and will be released on October 23. iTunes takes pre-orders for the Spectre theme song starting midnight.

To perform a James Bond theme song is a huge honor and opportunity. Adele scored an Oscar and a Golden Globe in 2013 for her Skyfall song. Now it is most likely Sam Smith’s big opportunity.

Sam Smith knows this and he said on Twitter: “I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honored to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song.”

23-year-old Sam Smith broke through in 2012. He won 4 Grammys this year and he still has his career ahead of him. The James Bond theme song will give him a huge boost.

The new Bond movie will top Skyfall. It is a bigger story and more intense and it has Christoph Waltz as villain. The new Bond movie is going to be released in the UK on October 26 and in the US on November 6, 2015.

Reactions on Twitter about Spectre Theme Song:

Maybe it is a good idea for Sam Smith not to read Twitter for a couple days. He said in an interview that he is nervous about how Bond fans will react to his song.
