He was immediately airlifted to the hospital after the unfortunate incident at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.
A representative of Disney confirmed the news regarding his injury. He also said that the shooting of the new Star Wars sequel will continue.
"He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates," a Disney spokesman said. Currently the film is being shot both in London and Abu Dhabi.
The workplace watchdogs in the UK are looking into the matter. A Health and Safety Executive spokesperson said, "We have been made aware of an incident at Pinewood Studios and are making initial enquiries."
Harrison Ford is playing his same old charismatic role as Han Solo in the Star Wars: Episode VII. Ford's old co-stars Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill are also playing their unforgettable roles of Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker in this sequel of Star Wars.
Other new cast members of the Star Wars: Episode VII include the beautiful Lupita Nyong'o along with Daisy Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson and Adam Driver. Dircetor J.J. Abrams is all set to release Star Wars: Episode VII in theaters in December of 2015.
