Sigourney Weaver wants to reprise Alien role

Sigourney Weaver wants to reprise her role in 'Alien'.

The actress last played warrant officer Ellen Ripley in 1997's 'Alien Resurrection' before the iconic science fiction franchise was laid to rest, followed by the crossover 'Alien vs Predator' films.

Speaking during a Q&A at the Hero Complex Film Festival, Weaver admitted she would like to return to her Academy Award-nominated role one more time and give fans closure.

She said: ''There's more story to tell. I feel there's a longing in certain groups of fans when I meet them for the story to be finished because we really left it up in the air and I feel a bit badly about that because I was part of that decision making process.

''I didn't want to make four and five in a bundle. I think it's hard to make these films all in a big lump. You need time to sort of let things resonate so I can imagine a situation where we could at least finish telling her story.''

The last film ended with Ripley crashing towards Earth on the pirate ship Betty, but Weaver is adamant the plot of a follow-up film should take place in space.

She explained: ''I don't think Alien belongs on Earth popping out of a haystack, which is where I was afraid it was going to go. I feel it should take place in the far reaches of the universe where no one in their right mind would go.''

As for a potential director to helm the movie, the 64-year-old actress remained coy since original directors Ridley Scott, James Cameron, David Fincher and Jean-Pierre Jeunet are all tied up with long-term projects.

According to HeroComplex.com, Weaver teased: ''There are very few filmmakers that I can think of that I would want to entrust this to. I certainly know young filmmakers who are interested in doing it. I haven't done anything about it, but it could happen, and I think that would be very satisfying, at least to me...''

Aug 28 2014 8:28am CDT | Source: movie pilot

Ridley Scott has been accused of white-washing history and the Bible with his latest film Exodus: Gods and Kings. A social media campaign #BoycottExodusMovie is calling for people to boycott the film upon its release due t ...

Aug 18 2014 3:12pm CDT | Source: dark horizons

When the trailer hit for Ridley Scott's new Biblical epic "Exodus: Gods and Kings," one of the results was an unexpected social media backlash against the apparent "whitewashing" of the cast. Stallone Says Expendabelles Might be Part of a Divorce

Aug 8 2014 10:34am CDT | Source: ign

For Sylvester Stallone, the question of what goes into a female-biased instalment in his Expendables franchise is a tough one. “With The Expendabelles, we’re in uncharted waters,” he says. “To put all women together, will that really work? Do you have to put in some women that are actually really known to be tough – other MMA fighters ? Or are the Expendabelles really part of a divorce, with Sigourney Weaver as my wife and she’s inherited half of the Expendables?” Stallone is laughin ...
