Sigourney Weaver wants to reprise Alien role

Sigourney Weaver wants to reprise her role in 'Alien'.

The actress last played warrant officer Ellen Ripley in 1997's 'Alien Resurrection' before the iconic science fiction franchise was laid to rest, followed by the crossover 'Alien vs Predator' films.

Speaking during a Q&A at the Hero Complex Film Festival, Weaver admitted she would like to return to her Academy Award-nominated role one more time and give fans closure.

She said: ''There's more story to tell. I feel there's a longing in certain groups of fans when I meet them for the story to be finished because we really left it up in the air and I feel a bit badly about that because I was part of that decision making process.

''I didn't want to make four and five in a bundle. I think it's hard to make these films all in a big lump. You need time to sort of let things resonate so I can imagine a situation where we could at least finish telling her story.''

The last film ended with Ripley crashing towards Earth on the pirate ship Betty, but Weaver is adamant the plot of a follow-up film should take place in space.

She explained: ''I don't think Alien belongs on Earth popping out of a haystack, which is where I was afraid it was going to go. I feel it should take place in the far reaches of the universe where no one in their right mind would go.''

As for a potential director to helm the movie, the 64-year-old actress remained coy since original directors Ridley Scott, James Cameron, David Fincher and Jean-Pierre Jeunet are all tied up with long-term projects.

According to HeroComplex.com, Weaver teased: ''There are very few filmmakers that I can think of that I would want to entrust this to. I certainly know young filmmakers who are interested in doing it. I haven't done anything about it, but it could happen, and I think that would be very satisfying, at least to me...''

FAN CASTING: If WOOL Were The Next Big Sci-Fi Flick

Jul 23 2014 12:20pm CDT | Source: movie pilot

It’s not often that a book crawls out of the pages of a hardback, or an e-reader, and smacks you in the face with how wonderful it is. You’re lucky to get a proper wowzer every few years. All preferences are subjective, of course, which explains the success of 50 Shades, but there are some modern literary hits which gain worldwide approval such as Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and Game Of Thrones. In a capitalist world of golden opportunities, these series are adapted into whateve ...

Baby Oscar Will Be a Ghostbuster in Ghostbusters 3

Jun 13 2014 11:40am CDT | Source: movie pilot

Ghostbusters 3 is a strange kind of limbo at the moment. As far as we know, it is definitely going to happen, however it seems to be progressing at a extremely sluggish pace. We always heard new Ghostbusters could be signing up to the team, and it seems Oscar (Dana ...
