Chris Pine learns acting tips from Kevin Costner

Chris Pine admits he's learnt a lot about acting from Kevin Costner.

The 'Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit' star was initially nervous about working with his Oscar-winning co-star, but the anxieties soon subsided and he started picking up tips and tricks from him.

He said: ''[Kevin] was so wonderful and gracious. There was no patronising happening. I think just by watching him you gain so much.

''Kevin just has a comfort in front of the screen. He's been a movie star for so long - he knows how to do it. And you just watch.''

The 32-year-old actor - who took over the role of Jack Ryan from previous franchise stars Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck - also praised the film's director Kenneth Branagh.

He explained to Access Hollywood: ''By watching Ken being around people that have been in the business and that have worked at that level, you can only add to your experience and your bag of tools.''

Meanwhile, Chris has struck up a close friendship with co-star Keira Knightley while filming the new spy thriller and admits working with the Oscar nominee was a ''wonderful experience''.

He said previously: ''I don't know if I've ever had more fun with an actress. She could not have been any more professional. She's younger than I am and she's done probably three times more films than I have. She'd show up, super smart, friendly, charming, in it, in the moment, and then she'd wrap. There was zero drama with Keira Knightley. It was the most lovely, wonderful experience you could ask for.''
