Quentin Tarantino axes 'Hateful Eight' after leak

Jan 22 2014, 6:24am CST | by

Quentin Tarantino has put 'Hateful Eight' on hold after the script leaked.

The Academy-Award winning director has expressed his fury in a foul mouthed rant after learning an unauthorised copy of the script was made public and insists he only lent it to a small group of actors.

Tarantino fumed to Deadline.com: ''I'm very, very depressed, I finished a script, a first draft, and I didn't mean to shoot it until next winter, a year from now. I gave it to six people, and apparently it's gotten out today.''

Fans who were hoping to see another Western from the 50-year-old filmmaker following the success of 'Django Unchained' last year, will also be left disappointed as the director will now publish the story as a book and move onto other projects.

Tarantino added: ''I don't know how these f***ing agents work, but I'm not making this next. I'm going to publish it, and that's it for now. I give it out to six people, and if I can't trust them to that degree, then I have no desire to make it. I'll publish it. I'm done. I'll move on to the next thing. I've got 10 more where that came from.''

He is keen to find out who leaked the scripts and admits he has possible suspects lined up including 'Reservoir Dogs' star Michael Madsen and 'Django Unchained' producer Reginald Hudlin, who he claims let his agent read the script.

Tarantino explained: ''That's a betrayal, but not crippling because the agent didn't end up with the script. There is an ugly maliciousness to the rest of it. I gave it to three actors: Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Tim Roth. The one I know didn't do this is Tim Roth. One of the others let their agent read it, and that agent has now passed it on to everyone in Hollywood.''

Find Out Where You Can See INTERSTELLAR in 70mm IMAX and 35mm

Oct 1 2014 11:53am CDT | Source: Collider

It’s no secret that Christopher Nolan is a very big proponent of film as opposed to digital.  His preference goes beyond the shooting of the movie to the actual projection, and not unlike Quentin Tarantino, Nolan very much prefers that you see his movies projected on film.  Today, Paramount released the final trailer for Nolan’s sci-fi epic Interstellar and also confirmed what we heard last night, which is ...

THE HATEFUL EIGHT Will Shoot Entirely in Colorado Starting on December 8th

Sep 26 2014 4:54pm CDT | Source: Collider

I have resisted the temptation to read the script for The Hateful Eight and have even avoided the recaps of the live staging that was held of the piece a few months ago in Los Angeles.  So it's encouraging that we're getting this new Quentin Tarantino movie a lot earlier than we thought we might.  We're now learning that the film will shoot outside of Telluride, Colorado and that everything - interiors and exter ...

VOTD: Zack Snyder Loves Slow Motion

Sep 26 2014 8:00am CDT | Source: Slash Film

Love Zack Snyder or hate him, it’s hard to deny he’s got a distinctive visual style. (Indeed, detractors often argue that’s his problem — that he’s nothing but style.) And one of his very favorite go-tos from his bag of tricks is tweaking the pace of the action onscreen. Dude loves himself some slow-mo, as demonstrated by this new supercut. He loves it so much, the video is even set to Emily Browning‘s slowed-down version of the Eurythmics‘ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” from Snyder’s  ...

‘The Guest’ Is a Fun ’80s Throwback With Sci-Fi and Stalker Sprinkles on Top [Movie Review]

Sep 18 2014 8:00pm CDT | Source: slash film

Update from editor Peter Sciretta: The following review was published by Germain Lussier on January 19th 2014 from the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. The movie is out in theaters this week: The films by director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett always have one thing in common. They are obviously influenced by an intense passion for movies, but are not overtly obvious about referencing those movies. In that sense, The Guest might feel like something you’ve seen before. It’s got the basic ...

Exclusive: Two Psychedelic Alternative Posters for ‘The Guest’

Sep 12 2014 3:00pm CDT | Source: Slash Film

This Wednesday, September 17, one of the coolest films of the year is coming to select theaters. That movie is The Guest, the latest film from the team behind You’re Next, and it is a “fun ’80s throwback with sci-fi and stalker sprinkles on top.” That’s what I said at Sundance, where the film premiered. Now, nine months later, you can finally see what all the fuss is about. Directed by Adam Wingard, The Guest stars Downton Abbey‘s Dan Stevens as a soldier returning home for war. He visi ...

BBC Edited Out A Pretty Horrible Scene In Upcoming Episode Of Doctor Who

Sep 5 2014 7:09pm CDT | Source: movie pilot

BBC and everyone involved with Doctor Who must be breathing a sigh of relief that the episode titled "Robot of Sherwood" is airing this week, and not last. The timing of the episode allowed for BBC to edit out a potentially disastrous scene from a PR perspective. The climactic battle between Robin Hood and the Sheriff features a decapitation - fairly gruesome at the best of times, but an even more horribly mistimed scene right ...

BBC Edited Out A Pretty Horrible Scene From Last Week's Doctor Who

Sep 5 2014 7:09pm CDT | Source: movie pilot

The timing of the episode allowed for BBC to edit out a potentially disastrous scene from a PR perspective. The climactic battle between Robin Hood and the Sheriff features a decapitation - fairly gruesome at the best of times, but an even more horribly mistimed scene right now in the wake of the beheadings of A ...

WINTER’S TALE Blu-ray Review

Sep 2 2014 7:00am CDT | Source: Collider

Quentin Tarantino has complained about how one of the biggest problems with American cinema is that it’s afraid of big emotions.  Of melodrama that might descend into camp (or perhaps is camp to begin with).  And it’s true, more movies are likely to adapt an ironic distance than go for something earnest.  There’s a reason for that: when earnest doesn’t work, you get films like The Postman and The Room.  ...
