Thor: The Dark World 'embraces' humour

Oct 21 2013, 10:24am CDT | by Bang Movies

'Thor: The Dark World' has a balance of humour and drama.

The new comic book movie - which sees Chris Hemsworth reprise his role as the titular superhero - will feature many funny scenes, and director Alan Taylor admits he felt he had to up the ante following the comical scenes in 2012's 'The Avengers' and 'Iron Man 3' earlier this year.

He explained: ''I felt my first task was to darken the world, and deepen it, and dirty it up a bit. And then as we got into the process, I thought, if we're going to darken it, deepen it and possibly kill off characters we love, we better be darn sure there's balance on the other side.

'''The Avengers' came out while we were starting it and 'Iron Man 3' came out while we were finishing it, so you were screwed if you don't also keep it funny and light on its feet. It's called 'The Dark World', but humour was critical on it.''

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was also pleased with the humour in the flick and feels it is imperative in grounding the film for the audience.

He added to BANG Showbiz: ''Humour is definitely the key. We've got spaceships in this movie and other planets in this movie, and we've found that humour is an amazing way to get the audience to just embrace and accept all those worlds, all that craziness and costumes. It's worked for us going all the way back to the first 'Iron Man' film.''

'Thor: The Dark World' is out in the UK on October 30.

When Marvel Comics announced that Sam Wilson, typically known as the Falcon, would take up the mantle of Captain America in an upcoming comics storyline, fans assumed that the film franchise featuring the same characters might quickly follow suit. Aug 8 2014 10:24am CDT | Source: movie fanatic

For Josh Brolin to be Thanos, to get ready to play the biggest bad guy in the Marvel universe, Brolin reported that the Marvel Studio gave him more information than was humanly possible to digest so quickly, but he loved it. In fact, his next film faded into the background! “They sent me so much frickin’ research -- I was in the middle of doing Everest, and I was focusing more on Thanos than I was on Everest,” Brolin told IGN. But it’s an exciting p ...

'Cause the one thing I wanted and didn't get from THE RAID: REDEMPTION was the guy from JOHN CARTER!

Aug 4 2014 5:15pm CDT | Source: aintitcool

Taylor Kitsch is almost locked to star. Read the full article on AICN Listen.   I like Taylor Kitsch. I never watched FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, and he had a rough start in movies with the dual failures of BATTLESHIP and JOHN CARTER (neither of which he was particularly good in anyway), but he's done good work in SAVAGES, LONE SURVIVOR, got some strong notices for his work on HBO's THE NORMAL HEART, and is rumored to be up for one of the leads of S2 of TRUE DETECTIVE. He's a ...

EVERY Marvel End Credit Scene! (Including Guardians of the Galaxy SPOILERS): Are they still fun?

Aug 3 2014 11:42pm CDT | Source: movie pilot

Sure Marvel films have trained us all to stay until after the credits of their films, but it is arguably the most anticipated moment of any new movie! Over the course of Marvel's Phase 1 they were filled with tons of fun teases for the next movie, and the entire future of the franchise. Over time, though, the end credit scenes have evolved.Spider-Man and X-Men have done these too, even before Marvel Studios, but in this post I'm only going to examine the Marvel Studios ...
