Mark Darcy killed off in Bridget Jones 3

Sep 30 2013, 5:06am CDT | by Bang Movies

'Bridget Jones' Diary' heartthrob Mark Darcy will be killed off.

The dashing hero, played by Colin Firth in the 'Bridget Jones' film franchise, won't feature in the third chapter of accident-prone Bridget's life, if the first extracts from author Helen Fielding's long-awaited new novel, 'Mad About the Boy', are to be believed.

In the pages published in the Sunday Times magazine, Bridget reveals that Darcy - her husband and father to her two children, Mabel and Billy - died five years earlier.

The bumbling blonde, played by Renee Zellweger in the romantic comedies - was also revealed to have embarked on a relationship with a 30-year-old toy boy called Roxster.

Fans took to Twitter to react to the tragic news, expressing their anger at Fielding for leaving Bridget a widower aged 51.

One wrote, ''Mark Darcy is dead. Bridget Jones is a widow. This is all too much for a lazy Sunday morning'', while another incredulous reader fumed, ''What the hell is helen fielding playing at in the next bridget jones book!? (sic)''

It is not yet known whether the long-planned third 'Bridget Jones' film will follow the same plot as the book.

Back in February, Hugh Grant - who plays lothario Daniel Cleaver in the films - revealed he had seen a script for the third film, but neither he, Zellweger or Firth had signed on to star.

He admitted: ''No one has signed on the dotted line. But they are working on our script. I have seen the script.''

The first best-selling book, 'Bridget Jones's Diary' - written in the form of a diary - was published in 1996, with sequel 'Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason' released in 1999.

Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman star in new trailer for Before I Go To Sleep: watch now

Aug 18 2014 1:55am CDT | Source: Total Film

A new trailer has arrived online for Before I Go To Sleep, in which Nicole Kidman stars as a woman whose brain is incapable of retaining any information from one day to the next. Waking up next to her husband (Colin Firth) each day is akin to waking up next to a stranger… at least until a few fragments of memory begin to return, that is. Gradually, with the assistance of Mark Strong’s doctor, Kidman begins to piece together the events that left her with this condition, placing a qu ...

New Posters for WHIPLASH, BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP, and LAGGIES

Aug 15 2014 1:28pm CDT | Source: Collider

Posters for a trio of non-superhero, non-franchise movies have landed online, and we thought it prudent to share.  Briefly: Whiplash – Our own Matt Goldberg is quoted on the Whiplash poster for this dark drama, which stars Miles Teller as an aspiring jazz drummer who studies under a ruthless instructor (J.K. Simmons).  I’m actually quoted on the trailer myself, as the film was one of the breakout hits of this yea ...

Nicole Kidman Can’t Remember Nuthin’ in Thriller Before I Go To Sleep

Aug 15 2014 9:44am CDT | Source: beyond hollywood

Which is bad for her, because apparently her husband played by Colin Firth may or may not be who he claims to be, and that could prove dangerous for our confused gal. Plus, Mark Strong is all up in her business and such, and maybe he wants even more than just to be her friend. All of that in director Rowan Joffe’s psychological thriller “Before I Got to Sleep.” Check out a trailer, poster, and some images for the flick below. It kinda looks ...

Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons Talk KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE, Matthew Vaughn, Comics vs. Film, WATCHMEN, Future Projects, and More

Aug 8 2014 3:59pm CDT | Source: Collider

One of my most anticipated movies is director Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service.  The story is based on the comic by written by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons about a veteran secret agent (Colin Firth) who takes a teen delinquent (Taron Egerton) from the streets of London, and brings him into a British spy school that molds its students into suave 007-types.  As a huge fan of what Vaughn did with X-Men: First Class and how awesome the first tra ...

New Release Dates for ‘Kingsman,’ ‘Poltergeist’ & ‘Run All Night’

Aug 6 2014 9:20pm CDT | Source: Screen Rant

The spring and summer lineup for 2015 is coming more into focus. We’ve already got The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Jurassic World and the new entry in the Terminator franchise coming up, to say nothing of Mad Max: Fury Road, Ant-Man and at least half a dozen other possible hits. To add to the mix a little, Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox have each announced new release dates for three more upcoming films. Kingsman: The Secret Service will ...

Batman V Superman Shifts Release Date

Aug 6 2014 6:37pm CDT | Source: Empire Online

Kingsman: The Secret Service is on the move tooThe staring match between Warner Bros./DC and Disney/Marvel is over. After the former dated its superhero match-up Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice on the same US release date as the latter's Captain America 3, we wondered whether one of the companies would blink. Warners just decided to do the sensible thing for everyone and moved their film to March 2 ...

Fox Pushes Back 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' to February 2015

Aug 6 2014 4:59pm CDT | Source: First Showing

Briefly: For an unknown reason, 20th Century Fox has decided to shift Matthew Vaughn's comic book adaptation Kingsman: The Secret Service from its original October 24th release date all the way back to February 13th, 2015. The new release date was originally intended for Fox's co-production of the Poltergeist remake with MGM, but that film has also been pushed back to July 24th, 2015. KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE Release Date Pushed to February 13, 2015; POLTERGEIST Moved to July 24, 2015

Aug 6 2014 4:05pm CDT | Source: Collider

While not as newsworthy as Warner Bros.' recent release date bomb, 20th Century Fox has made a couple of release date alterations of its own, one of which is a little last-minute. X-Men: First Class and Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of the Mark Millar graphic novel Kingsman: The Secret Service had been scheduled to debut this October, but now Fox has decided to push the film to February 13, 2015, where it will square off directly against ...

Sorry folks, no new Matthew Vaughn film this year. After a stellar presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, Fox has moved Vaughn’s comic book adaptation Kingsman: The Secret Service starring Colin Firth from October of this year into February 2015. It’ll now occupy the slot another Fox film, the Poltergeist remake, originally held. That film, directed by Gil Kenan, will now open July 24, 2015, making it the ...
