Jake Gyllenhaal found it 'difficult' working with snakes

Sep 27 2013, 12:12am CDT | by Bang Movies

Jake Gyllenhaal found it ''difficult'' to deal with the snakes in 'Prisoners'.

The 32-year-old actor - who plays Detective Loki in the thriller drama - wasn't keen on working with the real-life reptiles on set and despite initially thinking he would be working with CGI - Computer Generated Imaginary - he admits being around up to 10 of the slithery creatures made the movie more believable.

Speaking on UK daytime show 'Lorraine' this morning (26.09.13), he said: ''We had to deal with real snakes and real people - it was a difficult job. I think the reality of the movie was really important. I think a movie like this can go very easily into the genre elements or it can go quickly into the unbelievable.''

The star - who is known for taking on complex roles - previously admitted he prefers to take on a role that has a hidden depth because he likes something that he can get his teeth into.

He said: ''I look for something in the story that offers love in a more complicated way. I don't look for darkness, whatever that means, but in my mind, darkness acknowledges great light too.

''I think when it comes to a character, I'm moved by folk that I might struggle to love at first; characters that I have to do enough research on and think enough about to be able to really fall in love with them. Recently, in particular, that's what's been happening. I love Detective Loki. I found it hard to let him go.''

Fantastic Fest 2014 Preview: Our Most Anticipated Movies We Barely Knew Existed

Sep 18 2014 12:06pm CDT | Source: movies.com

The best part about a film festival like Fantastic Fest is that even obsessed movie buffs probably don't know much about the movies programmed. It's often a total wild card roster filled with movies that sort of exist in the shadows, at least as far as the U.S. is concerned, until Fantastic Fest and its ravenous audience put them on the map. Fantastic Fest does also play a number of big-name movies with Hollywood talent involved, like this year's John Wick starring Keanu ...

It is all in the headline and the big brain's review! Read the full article on AICN Take the gruesome, action-satire of Paul Verhoeven, the allure of the city after dark of Michael Mann, the subject matter and 70s adult drama sensibility of NETWORK, and the disturbing, maladjusted protagonists of Scorsese, and you are only beginning to get an idea of the cinematic DNA of NIGHTCRAWLER.  This isn’t to say it is derivative.  On the contrary, it may be the most ori ...

Nightcrawler Review

Sep 6 2014 3:05am CDT | Source: ign

Nightcrawler is a dirty, grubby, creepy movie; the kind that makes you feel like you need a wash after the credits have rolled. It’s a film that has much to say about the madness of the modern media, about how society has encouraged that insanity, and about the dangerous fallout of mass unemployment. And it’s a masterful directorial debut from screenwriter Dan Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy) that features a grandstandi ...
