Harrison Ford 'sedated' at Comic-Con

Jul 23 2013, 10:50am CDT | by Bang Movies

Harrison Ford joked he was ''lightly sedated'' when talking about his new film 'Ender's Game' at Comic-Con.

The 71-year-old actor made his first appearance at the convention in San Diego, California, to promote his new sci-fi movie, and admitted he is just pleased to get any acting jobs he can nowadays.

He quipped: ''I'm here of my own [...] just slightly sedated and ready to bring attention to this movie.

''I don't know if I'm Beatlemania but I'm pleased to be working at all, I'm glad to be here.''

Ford was joined at the event by his 'Ender's Game' director Gavin Hood, who joked he is still surprised that the Hollywood legend signed up for the motion picture.

He said: ''You send a script to an actor and you hope for the best ... we put the script together and we were like, 'If Harrison could do the script that would be amazing.'

''We sent a script to his agent, which I'm sure is in a pile with thousands of others. Somehow, I guess you will have to ask him, he read the script.''

Ford will play headmaster Colonel Hyrum Graff, who is tasked with training Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield) at a space school to defeat an alien enemy and save the human race.

Hood added: ''We got a call from his agent and they said, 'Harrison likes the script, and we were like, 'OK! Really? That's great! He doesn't want to play Ender does he?'

''Then we met and we discussed and I think he was auditioning me, not the other way round, and I guess I passed the audition and I'm thrilled to have him.''

Ford previously appeared at Comic-Con in handcuffs in 2010 to promote his film 'Cowboys and Aliens'. The stunt was thought to have been in reference to an earlier incident in which two men fought while waiting for the panel discussion of the film.

Is Cinematographer Janusz Kaminski's Next Project 'Indiana Jones 5'?

Oct 1 2014 1:27pm CDT | Source: First Showing

Well, here's something that's interesting and a little bit flimsy all at the same time. Ever since Disney picked up the rights to Indiana Jones from Paramount Pictures to complete their acquisition of properties from Lucasfilm, there have been rumors of both continuing the adventure with Harrison Ford or maybe rebooting the franchise with someone like Bradley Cooper. Neither option has proven to have any ...

Indiana Jones 5 Is Cinematographer Janusz Kaminski’s Next Project

Oct 1 2014 12:42pm CDT | Source: Slash Film

Is cinematographer Janusz Kaminski working on Indiana Jones 5 next? Yesterday in Page 2 I dropped a link to a Variety article titled Top Cinematographers Offer Online Course on Filmmaking. Like many of the articles I include in Page 2, I didn’t get a chance to read the whole thing as that would then extend the handful of hours I work on Page 2 to a whole working day. I just pick and choose the minor news we didn’t have a chance to cover on the site and the articles that ...

Time Flies in a Galaxy Far, Far Away: The Phantom Menace Cast, Then VS Now!

Oct 1 2014 6:39am CDT | Source: movie pilot

A little while ago, I wrote a piece about my experience as a kid on the day that Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace premiered. It got me to thinking: what's the cast been up to? Liam Neeson has the third installment of his Taken saga coming up; Natalie Portman has been dominating Hollywood (and science) on and off for the past decade; Ewan McGregor has been laying low, while he prepares for Broadway. Samuel L. Jackson appears onscreen whenever we need a BAMF around to lead a team of ...

Star Wars Episode VII: Oscar Isaac Talks Star Wars Old & New

Sep 30 2014 2:21pm CDT | Source: movie fanatic

Oscar Isaac is a busy man since he scored the role of a lifetime in the Coen brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis. He has The Two Faces of January landing soon and of course, there’s that little independent film he’s shooting now in London that goes by the name of Star Wars: Episode VII. Isaac was talking to The Huffington Post about his upcoming projects and the state of his career, and naturally the conversation turned to the galaxy far, far away. And although he said that you “can’t ...

GODZILLA Blu-ray Review

Sep 29 2014 8:00am CDT | Source: Collider

Gareth Edwards made a big leap from the small scale of 2010’s Monsters to the 2014 summer blockbuster Godzilla, and in doing so he showed that he has the skills for big budget movie-making (which may be why Lucasfilm scooped him up to direct a standalone Star Wars film).  Godzilla features a number of epic set pieces that show Edwards has a great skill and understanding of how to stage and build action.  Bu ...

Bill & Ted 3: Alex Winter Reveals Timeline

Sep 26 2014 10:47am CDT | Source: movie fanatic

The third Bill & Ted movie has been discussed for some time, including when Keanu Reeves first admitted that it was coming. It appears to be a serious reality with a script completed and ready to shoot. Alex Winter, the other half of our comedic, dim-witted yet good natured with a heart of gold duo, talked to Yahoo Movies and gave us an update. “[Bill & Ted] will be 40-something and it’s all about Bi ...

STAR WARS EPISODE VII Concept Image Depicts Epic Lightsaber Duel

Sep 26 2014 9:38am CDT | Source: Collider

Another day, another image from Star Wars: Episode VII, but this one just happens to be the best thing I've seen from the movie so far.  It depicts a lightsaber duel under the Millenium Falcon with a Darth Vader-like figure fighting a Rebel with a green lightsaber.  It's epic looking, and for a second I get excited but then I remember the prequels and how flat they were visually (not to mention narratively ...

Ridley Scott says Blade Runner 2 script is done

Sep 26 2014 5:04am CDT | Source: Total Film

Ridley Scott has been speaking about two of the hotly-anticipated sequels he’s currently working on, with updates on both Blade Runner 2 and Prometheus 2. According to Scott, the script for Blade Runner 2 is now complete, and progress now depends on finding time in Harrison Ford’s busy schedule. "It’s on the charts,” says Scott. "I can’t say when that would be yet, because of [Ford’s] thing with Star Wars. It’s a sequel ...
