Harrison Ford 'sedated' at Comic-Con

Harrison Ford joked he was ''lightly sedated'' when talking about his new film 'Ender's Game' at Comic-Con.

The 71-year-old actor made his first appearance at the convention in San Diego, California, to promote his new sci-fi movie, and admitted he is just pleased to get any acting jobs he can nowadays.

He quipped: ''I'm here of my own [...] just slightly sedated and ready to bring attention to this movie.

''I don't know if I'm Beatlemania but I'm pleased to be working at all, I'm glad to be here.''

Ford was joined at the event by his 'Ender's Game' director Gavin Hood, who joked he is still surprised that the Hollywood legend signed up for the motion picture.

He said: ''You send a script to an actor and you hope for the best ... we put the script together and we were like, 'If Harrison could do the script that would be amazing.'

''We sent a script to his agent, which I'm sure is in a pile with thousands of others. Somehow, I guess you will have to ask him, he read the script.''

Ford will play headmaster Colonel Hyrum Graff, who is tasked with training Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield) at a space school to defeat an alien enemy and save the human race.

Hood added: ''We got a call from his agent and they said, 'Harrison likes the script, and we were like, 'OK! Really? That's great! He doesn't want to play Ender does he?'

''Then we met and we discussed and I think he was auditioning me, not the other way round, and I guess I passed the audition and I'm thrilled to have him.''

Ford previously appeared at Comic-Con in handcuffs in 2010 to promote his film 'Cowboys and Aliens'. The stunt was thought to have been in reference to an earlier incident in which two men fought while waiting for the panel discussion of the film.
