Sam Mendes confirmed for Bond 24

Jul 11 2013, 11:36am CDT | by

Sam Mendes has been confirmed to direct Bond 24 for a 2015 release date.

The 'Skyfall' director - who previously ruled himself out of helming the next instalment in the spy franchise - will return as director of the next 007 adventure starring Daniel Craig, while 'Skyfall' screenwriter John Logan will pen the script.

The as-yet-untitled movie will be released in the UK on October 23, 2015, followed by its United States release two weeks later on November 6, 2015.

The filmmaker previously said he wouldn't return for Bond 24 due to his theatre commitments - which include a new West End musical production of 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - but he has recently been in talks with producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson about returning to the franchise after they agreed to accommodate the film around his schedule.

In a statement, Mendes said: ''I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24. I very much look forward to taking up the reins again, and to working with Daniel Craig, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for a second time.''

'Skyfall' became the most successful 007 movie of all time upon its release last year, taking over $1 billion at the global box office, as well as picking up two Oscars at the Academy Awards earlier this year.

The film earned the Best Original Song prize for 'Skyfall', written and performed by British superstar Adele, and also won Best Sound Editing.

The blockbuster movie saw Craig play 007 for a third time, while Javier Bardem played nemesis Silva and Dame Judi Dench reprised her role as M for a final time.

The film also introduced Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny and Ben Whishaw as Q.

‘Interstellar’ Cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema Will Shoot ‘Bond 24′

Sep 17 2014 10:30am CDT | Source: slash film

Normally we’d have a large measure of sympathy for anyone who had to take over a job following Roger Deakins. And since Deakins isn’t shooting the new Bond film, someone has to step into his shoes. But the person to take over the job shooting Bond 24 is Hoyte van Hoytema, who did such a tremendous job with Her, and then shot Interstellar for Christopher Nolan. So things are probably going to work out just fine. There’s another good detail in the Hoyte Van ...

Bond 24 finds replacement for Roger Deakins

Sep 17 2014 12:46am CDT | Source: Total Film

Bond 24 looks to have found a replacement for cinematographer Roger Deakins, with Dutchman Hoyte van Hoytema set to sign on as director of photography. It was something of a disappointment to hear that Deakins would not be returning to the fold after doing such a stellar job on Skyfall, although van Hoytema certainly comes with real pedigree. Having made waves with his work on the original Let The Right One In, he recently worked on both Tinker Tail ...

A memorable foil appears to be in order for the November 2015 release. Aug 25 2014 3:37am CDT | Source: Total Film

BOND 24 Villain Could Be a Bigger Adversary for Daniel Craig

Aug 23 2014 12:34pm CDT | Source: Collider

I’m one of the people who thought Skyfall was an incredible Bond film.  Between that and Casino Royale (I sort of consider Quantum of Solace to be an interstitial film, almost a short) I actually feel like James Bond is almost a current, relevant character (despite some of the old-fashioned fan service).  So I remain excited for Bond 24 even though it feels like something of a troubled production (the delays, the extensive reworking of the script ...

"Bond 24" Wants A Henchman, Austrian Locale

Aug 23 2014 11:57am CDT | Source: dark horizons

Whilst "Skyfall" saw the return of some of the more iconic elements of the James Bond franchise, one element that was missing is that of an iconic henchman - the last one arguably being Famke Janssen's Xenia Onatopp in "Goldeneye". A new report over at James Bond Radio claims that the twenty-fourth Bond film's director Sam Mendes is aiming to fill that gap and is looking for just such ...
