Johnny Depp won't watch his movies

Jun 19 2013, 12:24am CDT | by

Johnny Depp refuses to watch his own movies.

The 'Lone Ranger' star has revealed he hasn't watched any of his films in years because he prefers not to know how his performance has been edited and believes it helps to preserve his sanity.

The 50-year-old actor told the July issue of Rolling Stone magazine: ''I prefer to walk away with the experience. My job, as an actor, is to give the director options. You can only hope that the takes that you thought were the best were chosen. But, then again, if I don't watch it, I'll never know. So, better off.''

Johnny admitted the last one of his movies that he saw was 'The Libertine' in 2004, in which he portrayed the Earl of Rochester, and claimed he only watched it because the director, Laurence Dunmore, personally asked him to.

He added: ''That's one I'd really recommend.''

The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star the actor also revealed that he thinks about retiring from acting ''every day'', but is unlikely to do so in the near future.

He said: ''I think while I've got the opportunity and the desire and the creative spark to do the things that I can do right now, I should do them. And then, at a certain point, just take it down to the bare minimum and concentrate on, I guess, living life. Really living life. And going somewhere where you don't have to be on the run, or sneak in through the kitchen or the underground labyrinth of the hotel. At a certain point, when you get old enough or get a few brain cells back, you realise that, on some level, you lived a life of a fugitive.''

Stan Lee Reunites With ‘Mallrats’ Director Kevin Smith in ‘Yoga Hosers’

Aug 28 2014 5:00pm CDT | Source: Slash Film

Kevin Smith has always been a comic book fan. His second and third movies were steeped in comics. To this day, he’ll occasionally write a comic and even maintains a podcast about Batman. And for a comic book fan/filmmaker, there’s really nothing better than getting Stan Lee to appear in your film. That happened for Smith in film number two, Mallrats, when Lee showed up – as himself – to spout a few gross words of wisdom to our hero, Brodie. Now, almost 10 years ...

Aug 22 2014 10:33am CDT | Source: movie fanatic

We know Meryl Streep plays a witch in Into the Woods, but with a new photo from Disney form their upcoming big screen version of the Broadway musical, she looks a little more whacked than witchy! We were pretty darn impressed with that photo of Johnny Depp as the Big Bad Wolf, and the Into the Woods teaser trailer is truly compelling (even without any musical numbers), but there is something about the below photo of Streep as the evil center of this musical t ...

Kevin Smith scores a star for his latestThough Kevin Smith has worked with big stars in the past – your Ben Afflecks, your Matt Damons – they were usually people he knew way back when, before they became household names. And after his bad experiences with Bruce Willis on Cop Out, we didn’t expect him to be collaborating with someone at Johnny Depp’s level any time soon. But the Pirates Of The Caribbean star is front and centre for Smith’s latest, Yog ...

Terry Gilliam Says ‘Don Quixote’ Is Now About “How Movies Can Damage People”

Aug 11 2014 9:00am CDT | Source: Slash Film

If anyone knows how movies can damage people, it’s Terry Gilliam. The director has battled over many a film in his time. He fought Universal brass over Brazil, and Columbia over The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. Most catastrophically, he battled weather, disaster, and illness during the original shoot of The Man Who Killed Don Quixote. Gilliam lost that fight, but he has been trying to make new versions of the film for several years. Every time Don Quixote comes up for Gi ...
