Loki not in The Avengers 2?

Jun 17 2013, 4:17am CDT | by

Tom Hiddleston won't be in 'The Avengers' sequel.

The actor - who played villainous Asgardian god Loki in the first film - is unlikely to return for the action blockbuster's 2015 sequel, according to director Joss Whedon.

Quizzed about a specific phrase used by the character in last year's 'The Avengers', he told Empire magazine in an interview: ''Everyone is going to be looking for the Loki-Hulk smash moment and you'll be looking for 'quim'.

''First of all, imitating what I did before is the surest way to do it not as well. Second of all, Loki's not there to say those terrible things. Although I do think we should bring the word back, not as an insult, it's just a nice word.''

Hiddleston's mischievous character was first introduced into the Marvel cinematic franchise in 2011's 'Thor', in which he portrays the brother of the titular hero played by Chris Hemsworth. Loki then went on to become the main villain in last year's superhero team-up movie, which also starred Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans and Captain America and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk.

Loki will feature in 'Thor' sequel 'Thor: The Dark World' later this year, once again antagonising his heroic brother.

Aug 28 2014 1:00pm CDT | Source: Slash Film

At this point, we only have a vague idea of what Avengers: Age of Ultron is even about. But now we know how it’s going to end, at least for one major character. In a recent chat with Larry King, Jeremy Renner addressed a certain rumor about Hawkeye’s fate in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Hit the jump to see what he had to say. (Obviously, light spoilers for Age of Ultron are ahead.) King asked Renner in an offhand manner whether Hawkeye woul ...

Hulk and Hawkeye Get the Spotlight in New ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Images

Aug 27 2014 12:20pm CDT | Source: Slash Film

If we had any complaint about the first Avengers, it was that there wasn’t nearly enough of Mark Ruffalo‘s Hulk or Jeremy Renner‘s Hawkeye. Fortunately, Kevin Feige has already promised to remedy that lack in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and the latest batch of images indicate that he plans to deliver. Hulk and Hawkeye figure prominently in these new stills, along with Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Scarlet Witch ...

The Top 25 Horror Movies You Have To See! Scream, Saw, and more!

Aug 25 2014 3:10pm CDT | Source: movie pilot

I am a huge horror buff. For years, my friend and I have spent many an evening hunting down some of the most interesting, most terrifying horror movies around. This search has most often lead us to some really awful films. Films so bad we're not sure how they even convinced anyone to fund them. The search has also lead to a whole subgenre that has filled us with much joy – the crappy but still funny and hugely entertaining horror movie that isn't very good but still worth watching. Thi ...

Avengers 3: Is Marvel Killing The Magic?

Aug 15 2014 10:42pm CDT | Source: movie pilot

I can see the headline - "Guardians of the Galaxy Astounds with 165 million dollar debut!" Really, it is astounding because without promos who even knew who the Guardians of the Galaxy were. But you had the name "Marvel Comics" on the project so what did you expect? People flock to the theaters like stampeding cattle because its another Marvel movie and the reason why all comes down to The Avengers. Financially ...

Don’t Expect to See Thanos in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’

Jul 31 2014 2:15pm CDT | Source: slash film

The Marvel supervillain Thanos was first teased in the post-credits sequence for The Avengers, and his influence is felt in this weekend’s Guardians of the Galaxy. But it’ll be a while before we really get to know him better. Kevin Feige confirmed that the Mad Titan is “not a part” of Avengers: Age of Ultron — though in typically coy fashion, he admits “nothing’s definitive” at this point. Hit the jump for details. Russ got the scoop from Feige at a rece ...

Chris Hemsworth Talks AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON; Joss Whedon’s Banter; Bringing in Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch and When He Shoots THOR 3

Jul 30 2014 10:50am CDT | Source: Collider

After the epic Marvel panel this past Saturday at the San Diego Comic-Con, Steve was able to speak with several cast members of the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron.  Chris Hemsworth is one of the more integral performers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, anchoring the Thor franchise and playing a key role in the Avengers, so naturally he was on the list. After the footage from Avengers: Age of Ultron brought the house down (by all accounts) in Hall H, Steve caught ...

Mad Max, Crimson Peak & More: The 5 Most Exciting Movies at Comic-Con!!

Jul 24 2014 7:49pm CDT | Source: movie pilot

Star Wars: Episode VII, Fantastic Four, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part One, Chappie... these are only a few of the major release that aren't coming to Comic Con this year. Either a lot of these movies simply don't have enough footage ready or some studios are beginning to care less about Comic Con. Hopefully it's not the latter case. Some of those films listed will make some sort of an apperance, but it's a shame they're not making the trip down to Hall H. Thankfu ...

After yesterday’s glut of new images and plot details, there’s more Avengers: Age Of Ultron news to update you on, with Joss Whedon having been talking about how Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch fit into proceedings. “They’re on Team Ultron,” says Whedon, “which makes things really hard for the Avengers because all of sudden they’re dealing with powers that they’re not used to.
