Daniel Radcliffe for Tokyo Vice

May 2 2013, 4:14am CDT | by

Daniel Radcliffe is set to star in 'Tokyo Vice'.

The 'Harry Potter' actor has signed on to play the lead role in director Anthony Mandler's forthcoming thriller based on the real life events of a journalist who exposed a Yakuza mafia boss, reports Deadline.

The story follows American reporter Jake Adelstein, who, while working at a newspaper in Tokyo, Japan, was assigned to the crime beat and found himself in the crosshairs of Yakuza boss Tadamasa Goto, known as the ''John Gotti of Japan''.

The journalist detailed his brush with the mob in a memoir - from which the film's script will be adapted - and the high-stakes drama will track how Adelstein investigated and eventually exposed the criminal kingpin at great personal cost, including death threats.

Adelstein will contribute to playwright JT Rogers' script for the film, which will be produced by John Lesher and Adam Kassan for Le Grisbi Productions.

Radcliffe scored a post-'Harry Potter' hit last year when he starred in 'The Woman in Black', the most successful British horror film of all time, grossing $130 million worldwide.

The actor has also recently signed on to star in 20th Century Fox's remake of 'Frankenstein'.

Mandler is best known for directing music videos for the likes of Rihanna.

Aug 27 2014 12:20pm CDT | Source: Collider

It’s been a little tough getting used to Daniel Radcliffe as a guy with horns on his head, but ever since the trailers for Alexandre Aja’s adaptation of the Joe Hill novel, Horns, started hitting, it’s become easier and easier to take it for what it is and appreciate the fun and absurdity of the situation. That last trailer was a major game changer courtesy of the surprising sense of humor and playful tone and now this new one does the same ...

‘Horns’ UK Trailer & Poster: Daniel Radcliffe Turns Evil

Aug 27 2014 12:09pm CDT | Source: screen rant

RADiUS TWC (Man of Tai Chi, Fed Up) made an unexpectedly large splash when it jumped into the San Diego Comic-Con pool for the first time this year. In no small part, that was thanks to the footage it showed from Horns, the upcoming film adaptation of best-seller Joe Hill’s 2010 novel that was directed by Alexandre Aja (High Tension, Piranha 3D) and stars Daniel Radcliffe in a role that is easily the Harry Potter star’s darkest and most adult to date. Horns, a ...

‘The Woman in Black: Angel of Death’ Teaser Trailer

Aug 21 2014 11:30am CDT | Source: slash film

The Woman in Black: Angel of Death follows up, obviously, on The Woman in Black, the 2012 gothic horror film that saw Daniel Radcliffe facing down a malevolent spirit. Part of the appeal of the first film was seeing Radcliffe out of his Harry Potter garb, but the movie was also effective as horror. It doesn’t leave much room for a direct sequel, however. And so Angel of Death moves forward to 1941, when two t ...
