Sylvester Stallone's vein tattoo

Feb 3 2013, 10:19am CST | by

Sylvester Stallone got a tattoo of his wife to cover a burst vein.

The actor sports huge tattoos across his back and shoulders in his new film 'Bullet to the Head', and they are real rather than painted on for the role, inked because he had an unsightly vein.

He said: ''The tattoos are real - unfortunately. I have all kinds of chest injuries; I tore my vein during 'Rocky II' and had 60 stitches. If you've seen 'Rocky Balboa', you'll know how bad they look. It got worse and worse, and people were saying, 'Urgh, has he got varicose veins?' So I thought, 'f**k it', and covered them with a tattoo of my wife.

''Then the tattoo started to grow and it went to a skull and before I knew it, I was a mural.''

Sylvester, 66, is still lining up action roles and sustaining injuries, with his latest affliction on his calf sustained while filming 'The Tomb' with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

He told Shortlist magazine: ''I just got this one - 70 new stitches. This is from 'The Tomb' with Schwarzenegger. It's a little memento. I've had both shoulders done, my neck done, two back operations, achilles tendon and now this thing - the peroneal tendon - just ruptured. This is the worst f*cking one ever. I feel like an old athlete. Every time you touch something, it breaks.''

Aug 13 2014 4:05am CDT | Source: Empire Online

Shane Salerno takes a shot at another franchiseAny number of potential movie properties have spent years in Development Hell, but few can match the tortuous journey of Mack Bolan to the screen. The star of an incredible 900-odd pulp novels that are still being published at the rate of a dozen a year, action super-agent Bolan has so far defeated everyone who's tried to build a movie around him.
