Bill Murray's 'civilised' movie

Feb 2 2013, 4:12am CST | by

Bill Murray found making 'Hyde Park on Hudson' ''civilised''.

The 62-year-old actor takes on the role of US President Roosevelt in the new feature, which follows the iconic figure through history being visited by Britain's King George VI (Samuel West), and Bill was pleasantly surprised at how ''normal'' the work schedule was during production.

He said: ''I truly never worked on such a civilised movie. We got up at a normal hour; we worked until a normal hour. No starting at 3.45am. No panic.

''Every so often, one of the producers would come up and say, 'Bill, I just want you to know how much I loved what you did yesterday.' ''

Bill admitted he was close to giving up acting after his 2005 film 'Broken Flowers' and considered changing careers to be a professional hat maker.

He added to Radio Times magazine: ''I was going to stop. I just loved everything about that movie, and afterwards I thought: 'Honestly, I don't think I can ever do anything better.' So I wanted a new career.

''I could have made hats. I'm not entirely joking. I was definitely open to something else. But nothing came up.''

Nightcrawler Slips Ahead At The US Box Office

Nov 2 2014 5:05pm CST | Source: Empire Online

But Ouija is not far behind...Halloween is traditionally the time for scary movies to arrive at the stateside box office, but with the holiday falling on a Friday this year, studios largely steered clear to avoid being affected by trick-or-treating or drunken parties. Still, US cinemagoers were clearly ready to experience Jake Gyllenhaal being a creepy – if all too human – character in Nightcrawler.Dan Gilroy’s film about the seedy underbelly of LA cri ...

Watch Sofia Coppola’s Adorable Gap Holiday Campaign

Oct 31 2014 3:00pm CDT | Source: Slash Film

I know, I know: Halloween is way too early for Christmas marketing. But these charming Gap spots directed by Sofia Coppola don’t beat you over the head with their Christmas-iness. If anything, the unifying theme really seems to be “sweaters,” and that’s something we can get behind in these chilly fall days. Besides, you can think of them as a sort of appetizer for Coppola’s other upcoming holiday project, a TV special wit ...

Oct 31 2014 2:31pm CDT | Source: Collider

Many similarly themed shows came and went in the wake of Mad Men’s success, and one such series was Starz’s Magic City.  The show took place in 1959 Miami and revolved around a club owner, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who is forced to make a deal with a mobster.  It ran for two seasons on the network, but it is now getting new life in the form of a Magic City movie.  Variety reports that creator Mitch Glazer will direct a feature film iteration of the show, with Morgan, Danny Huston, Olga ...

Canceled Starz Series ‘Magic City’ Becoming A Movie; Bruce Willis, Bill Murray Join Cast

Oct 31 2014 2:00pm CDT | Source: Slash Film

When a TV series is canceled, that’s usually the end. It’s only on rare occasions (Arrested Development, The Comeback, etc.) that it gets a second chance as a series and it’s even more rare that a canceled show gets turned into a movie (Firefly being the big, obvious example). Now, the Starz show Magic City is getting that elusive chance. Series creator Mitch Glazer has written and script and will direct a big screen version ...

Ouija Scares Victory Over John Wick: Weekend Box Office Report

Oct 27 2014 9:00am CDT | Source: movie fanatic

Despite some sub-par reviews, including our Ouija review, the horror flick based on the board game came in first place at the weekend box office with a $20 million debut. With Halloween next Friday, this should hardly be a surprise as it was the only new horror flick to open wide. The Keanu Reeves action flick John Wick also did pretty darn well, coming in second with $14.2 million, Reeves biggest debut in eight years (since The Day the Earth Stood Still). ...
