George Clooney confirmed for Disney's Tomorrowland

Jan 29 2013, 4:13am CST | by

George Clooney's mysterious Disney movie has been renamed 'Tomorrowland'.

The 51-year-old actor has been confirmed to star in Brad Bird's ''ultra-secret sci-fi project'', which was originally known by the working title '1952', according to Entertainment Weekly.

Jeff Jensen and 'Prometheus' writer Damon Lindelof will produce the project along with Brad, and the pair have also penned the script, originally thought to have similarities to Steven Spielberg's cult 1977 film 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind', which sees a man make contact with aliens on planet earth.

However, Damon posted a picture of a box of Walt Disney's personal archive labelled '1952' on his Twitter account last week, with the caption: ''The Box... opened''.

The box contained old photographs of Walt, Technicolour film, a history of NASA called 'Model Research', an August 1928 edition of Amazing Stories magazine, and a vinyl record.

After stirring up fans' curiosity, Damon quashed previous reports the film would be an alien invasion movie. The news could support theories it will instead be based on the Tomorrowland section of the Magic Kingdom theme park at Walt Disney World Florida - a Jules Verne-inspired vision of a future that never came to fruition.

He teased on Monday (28.01.13): ''We won't tell you what it's about (yet), but we will tell you what it's NOT about. And that would be ALIENS. #Tomorrowland''

'Tomorrowland' will hit cinemas on December 19, 2014.

Oct 27 2014 2:05pm CDT | Source: ign

For some odd reason, there's been a lot of chitchat lately about Joel Schumacher's Batman & Robin. But soon, God help us, that chatter may become something more... A few weeks ago at NYCC, star George Clooney addressed his alleged "ban" from Comic-Con, citing his infamous portrayal of the Dark Knight as the main reason. Schumacher also recently apologized for the '97 pic, saying, "George made a noble effort. I was the problem with B ...

Is Michael Keaton Still The Best Batman?

Oct 24 2014 11:08am CDT | Source: movie pilot

Michael Keaton has been taking it easy these past few years. It's hard to call his performance in Birdman a "comeback" because it's not like he disappeared. Even in the middling remake of RoboCop, Keaton managed to turn in fun work. We just haven't seen him chew into really juicy drama lately, which is exactly what he gets to do in the exceptional Birdman. His charm serves his latest film well. He plays an actor strug ...

Who's Really to Blame for Batman and Robin - and THOSE Bat-Nipples?

Oct 15 2014 9:45am CDT | Source: movie pilot

When it comes to superhero movies, there don't come many more epic, genre-defining - and universally panned - than Batman and Robin. After all, Joel Schumacher's 1997 Bat-flick is now arguably the defining example of big-budget, studio-influenced, merchandising-sales-led superhero film-making - and a consistently popular punchline and punching bag for Bat-fans everywhere. Most of which, in fairness, is pretty reasonable - since the movie is...not great. Also, Bat-Nippl ...
