J.J. Abrams: Star Trek 2 will make fans cry

Jan 24 2013, 12:09am CST | by

'Star Trek: Into Darkness' will be an emotional rollercoaster.

Director J.J. Abrams promises the sequel to 2009's franchise reboot will have audiences in tears at the end of the film thanks to its message of hope and love triumphing over fear.

He told MTV: ''The goal of this movie is to make you cry. If the movie does its job, then by the end of the movie, you will have had a reaction involving the eyes. If the movie works, then there's definitely an emotional component.

''[It is] very much about hope, about love, about romance, and about facing something that is truly terrifying and finding a way through the connection of your family and surviving and being stronger afterwards.''

Zachary Quinto, who plays Captain Spock, added that the Entreprise crew will be put in far greater danger than ever before by Benedict Cumberbatch's villainous ''terrorist'' character John Harrison.

He said: ''There's reason to worry. There is an insidiousness and ruthlessness and fierce intelligence to [Harrison] that almost undermines the interconnectivity of the crew. The stakes are much higher.''

Although famously secretive filmmaker J.J. has kept quiet about details of the project, he recently confessed he was counting down the days until fans got to see the finished product and the sheer brilliance of Benedict's performance.

He enthused: ''I just can't wait for people to see the movie. Benedict is unbelievable. It's a tall order, coming into that movie, because the crew of the 'Enterprise' - that cast - is so damn good and they're wonderful to work with and they're all good hearts.

''I not only love him in the movie, but I love him, as a human being. He's an amazing guy. I can't wait for people to see the movie and experience what he's done.''

Sep 11 2014 12:36pm CDT | Source: First Showing

Production has resumed on Star Wars: Episode VII, but after some big leaks hit the web before the project went on hiatus for a few weeks, it seems the lid is even tighter on mystery box of the sci-fi sequel from director J.J. Abrams. So since we don't have any new stuff about Episode VII (besides some aerial photos of the Millennium Falcon and X-Wing making the rounds), it's never too early to ...

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII Set Pics Reveal Life-Sized Millenium Falcon and X-Wing Ships

Sep 10 2014 10:38am CDT | Source: Collider

I'm almost shocked that there isn't restricted air space around the Star Wars: Episode VII set, such is the intensity of director J.J. Abrams' desire for secrecy.  But even Abrams doesn't have that kind of clout, and so now we have some overhead pics that got snagged by a local flying school.  And they detail what look to be like life-size models of the Millenium Falcon and a (tarp covered) X-Wing fighter. So, just in case you were ...

Abrams’ beginning chapter in the franchise’s next live-action movie trilogy. Two months have passed since then and, ...
