Jimmy Olsen to become woman in 'Man of Steel'?

'Superman' character Jimmy Olsen could become a female in the new 'Man of Steel' film.

The Zack Snyder-directed superhero film's IMDB page lists actress Rebecca Buller in the role of Jenny Olsen, leading to speculation that the part could have been re-imagined for the big screen reboot starring Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman.

In the latest trailer for the film, The Daily Planet editor Perry White (Laurence Fishburne) and Rebecca's character are seen running to safety after an explosion, lending credence to speculation that she could indeed be an employee at the newspaper.

In the 'Superman' comic book series and subsequent film adaptations, young, wide-eyed Jimmy Olsen looks up to Superman and unbeknownst to him, he is a colleague of Superman's alter ego, Clark, at The Daily Planet newspaper where he works as a photographer.

There is no specific cast member listed in the role of Jimmy Olsen, who was previously played by Marc McClure in the Christopher Reeves-starring 'Superman' films and Sam Huntington in 2006's 'Superman Returns'.

The unknown actress only has one other acting credit to her name on IMDB for an episode of short-lived TV series, 'The Playboy Club'.

The other cast members include Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod and Russell Crowe as Jor-El.

'Man of Steel' is due for release in June.
