Jack Reynor bulking up for Transformers 4

Jan 21 2013, 4:06am CST | by

Jack Reynor is bulking up for his role in 'Transformers 4'.

The up-and-coming Irish actor was cast by Michael Bay in the latest instalment of the robot franchise earlier this month, and he has revealed he is undertaking an intense physical regime to prepare for his role in the film.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the London Critics Circle Film Awards last night (20.01.13) at the May Fair Hotel, he said: ''I'm training very intensely at the moment. I'm going to keep that up until we shoot. I'm going to do some different courses, some different things I need to pick up for the film. My character seems to be a race car driver so I'm going to be doing a couple of driving courses and getting out on the track.''

Quizzed about how he landed the role, he added: ''It was after a film I was doing, 'The Delivery Man', with Dreamworks. I went through quite a rigorous audition process out in L.A., and after a certain amount of auditions and meetings with different executives, I managed to pull it off.''

The 20-year-old 'What Richard Did' actor - who was hailed by director Michael as the ''real deal'' - hasn't met co-star Mark Wahlberg yet, but admits he greatly admires the 'Ted' star.

He said: ''I haven't met him before, but I'm really excited. He's one of my favourite actors. I just think he's brilliant. I have a huge amount of respect for him as an actor so I can't wait to get on set with him.''

Although the film's lead character has yet to be cast, Jack insists he trusts Michael, who is credited with making household names out of Megan Fox and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, to pick the franchise's next beauty.

He said: ''I think Michael Bay has his ideas about it and I'm going to go along with him. He seems to know what he's doing.''

'Transformers 4' is rumoured to begin filming in May for a tentative June 2014 release.

Other stars who attended the glitzy awards ceremony included Helena Bonham Carter, Samantha Barks, Toby Jones, Emily Blunt and Tom Holland.

Both ‘Bourne’ Movies Still In Development; Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass Not Locked

Sep 17 2014 1:15pm CDT | Source: Slash Film

Most thrillers keep the suspense on-screen, but the Bourne franchise now has edge-of-your-seat action behind-the-scenes too. News that Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass would return to Universal to make the fourth Jason Bourne film has been the biggest surprise of the week so far. But that’s just the beginning. Greengrass didn’t have the most pleasant split from the franchise after The Bourne Ultimatum, despite it being the most successful film of the fr ...

A Marvel-Like ‘Ghostbusters’ Universe Is In the Works, According to Dan Aykroyd

Sep 17 2014 11:00am CDT | Source: Slash Film

Every few weeks there’s a new reason Ghostbusters 3 hasn’t happened yet. Some are valid, others are not, but for the past 25 years there’s always something. First it was Bill Murray’s reluctance, then it was Chris Miller and Phil Lord passing on the project, of course the tragic death of Harold Ramis, Ivan Reitman’s departure, script problems, the list goes on and on. At the center of it all is the spokeman for the franchise: co-writer and star Dan ...

Will The ‘Avatar’ Sequels Shoot in 120 Frames Per Second?

Sep 16 2014 12:00pm CDT | Source: slash film

Unlike some of his esteemed colleagues, James Cameron has never shied away from new technology. He’s been a proponent of 4K resolution and higher frame rates for years. In fact, he’s been telling people he wanted to shoot his Avatar sequels in 60 FPS since 2011 — before Peter Jackson’s 48 FPS Hobbit even hit theaters. Now it seems Cameron may go even further than that. Douglas Trumbull says Cameron’s Avatar producer Jon Landau i ...

VFX veteran Douglas Trumbull has revealed that he's had discussions with James Cameron's producing partner Jon Landau about potentially using Trumbull's MAGI technology on the upcoming "Avatar" sequels. Trumbull has developing a filming system that shoots 4K 3D at 120 frames per second, one that could overcome some of the issues with Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" films which were shot at 48 frames per second rat ...

Mark Wahlberg to Produce ‘Shooter’ TV Show for TNT

Sep 12 2014 12:30pm CDT | Source: slash film

Normally, movies that don’t make $100 million worldwide don’t get sequels. And they definitely don’t get TV shows. But Mark Wahlberg isn’t your typical actor/producer. He’s now teamed up with Paramount TV to bring his 2007 film, Shooter, to TNT as a regular series. The film, which itself was based on the novel Point of Impact by Stephen Hunter, follows a decorated but retired military sniper who takes one last job. However, he’s framed for murder on the job and goes on the run. Read mor ...

Why "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" should have done better.

Sep 8 2014 4:19pm CDT | Source: movie pilot

I’m disappointed by the second Sin City film, but not in the way you think.Last night, after weeks of trying to find someone willing to go with me, I FINALLY got to see Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. I am a fan of the first film, as well as most of Frank Miller’s movie adaptations (except from a HUGELY underwhelming second 300 movie), therefore it was natural that I was eagerly anticipating the release of A Dame to Kill For.Reports of box office failing ...
