Jack Reynor bulking up for Transformers 4

Jan 21 2013, 4:06am CST | by

Jack Reynor is bulking up for his role in 'Transformers 4'.

The up-and-coming Irish actor was cast by Michael Bay in the latest instalment of the robot franchise earlier this month, and he has revealed he is undertaking an intense physical regime to prepare for his role in the film.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the London Critics Circle Film Awards last night (20.01.13) at the May Fair Hotel, he said: ''I'm training very intensely at the moment. I'm going to keep that up until we shoot. I'm going to do some different courses, some different things I need to pick up for the film. My character seems to be a race car driver so I'm going to be doing a couple of driving courses and getting out on the track.''

Quizzed about how he landed the role, he added: ''It was after a film I was doing, 'The Delivery Man', with Dreamworks. I went through quite a rigorous audition process out in L.A., and after a certain amount of auditions and meetings with different executives, I managed to pull it off.''

The 20-year-old 'What Richard Did' actor - who was hailed by director Michael as the ''real deal'' - hasn't met co-star Mark Wahlberg yet, but admits he greatly admires the 'Ted' star.

He said: ''I haven't met him before, but I'm really excited. He's one of my favourite actors. I just think he's brilliant. I have a huge amount of respect for him as an actor so I can't wait to get on set with him.''

Although the film's lead character has yet to be cast, Jack insists he trusts Michael, who is credited with making household names out of Megan Fox and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, to pick the franchise's next beauty.

He said: ''I think Michael Bay has his ideas about it and I'm going to go along with him. He seems to know what he's doing.''

'Transformers 4' is rumoured to begin filming in May for a tentative June 2014 release.

Other stars who attended the glitzy awards ceremony included Helena Bonham Carter, Samantha Barks, Toby Jones, Emily Blunt and Tom Holland.

Rare Concept Art: See Completely Different Looks for the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' and 'E.T.'

Oct 14 2014 11:44am CDT | Source: movies.com

Fans were pretty split on this summer’s rebooting of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, but the film earned enough money to warrant a sequel and the Turtles are among this year's top Halloween costumes. We don’t know what producer Michael Bay and company have in store for their next adventure, but we can look back at what might have been thanks to what is presumably concept art from the first feature. Artist Tsvetomir Georgiev has shared a whole bu ...

Forget Ouija and Battleship: Here Are 11 Board Game Movies Hollywood Should Make Next

Oct 14 2014 10:00am CDT | Source: Slash Film

The following post was originally published on February 24th 2014. Which board game movies should Hollywood make next? Over the last year or so I’ve gotten sucked into the table top scene, and now have a board game addiction. I’m not talking about Monopoly or The Game of Life, but designer hobby board games that offer more strategy and theme than the games we all played as children. Hollywood has dipped its toes into the board game movies a few times ...

This Week In Trailers: The Postal Service – Everything Will Change, Evolution of a Criminal, Heartbeat, Point and Shoot, Abuse of Weakness

Oct 11 2014 11:00am CDT | Source: slash film

Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: What better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising? This week we end up in the wrong place at the wrong time, revisit an indie ...

LOL: ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ Honest Trailer

Oct 8 2014 5:00pm CDT | Source: slash film

The Screen Junkies team isn’t always mean. When they’re genuinely impressed by a movie, they’re honest enough to say so. But if I’m being honest, it’s more fun to watch them rip a deserving target to shreds. And the Transformers: Age of Extinction Honest Trailer is truly a delight to behold. The video tears into all the obnoxious, nonsensical, and downright stupid aspects of the Michael Bay-directed extravaganza, and even delves into some eye-rolling errors you might have missed. Hit the jump ...

Honest Trailer Takes on Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction

Oct 7 2014 12:48pm CDT | Source: beyond hollywood

Just how bad was Michael Bay’s “Transformers: Age of Extinction”? So bad that even though I gave the first three movies a pass for being big and dumb and loud, I just can’t do it this time around. Because there is something about being big and dumb and loud and still entertaining, but “Transformers: Age of Extinction” was just a big lumbering waste of everyone’s time. When even the presence of Dinobots can’t save your movie, let’s face it, you’re doing something really wron ...

Transformers Age of Extinction DVD Review: Is Bigger Better?

Oct 2 2014 6:11pm CDT | Source: movie fanatic

After raking in over a billion dollars at the international box office, Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction has arrived on DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download. As we stated in our Transformers: Age of Extinction review, the fourth Bay Transformers movie is not the best, but it’s not the worst either! This time out, Shai LaBeouf is (thankfully) gone and Mark Wahlberg is our lead, flexing his ...
