Terminator film moves forward

Scriptwriters have been hired for a new 'Terminator' movie.

Skydance Productions and Annapurna Pictures have taken on Laeta Kalogridis - a friend of 'Terminator' creator James Cameron - and Patrick Lussier to pen the next installment in the sci-fi adventure series, deadline reports.

The pair were commissioned by Skydance's David Ellison to write an original script, based on an idea initiated by Skydance.

Though the movie series' original star Arnold Schwarzenegger's involvement hasn't been confirmed, it was recently claimed he had teamed up with director Justin Lin ('Fast Five') to plan the storyline for 'Terminator 5' which will allegedly take place in a parallel timeline.

The former Governor of California previously admitted he would like to revisit some of his old action film classics, including 'Terminator', 'Twins' and 'True Lies'.

Arnold paid homage to his infamous 'Terminator' line and said acting is where his passion lies, especially since the salary is infinitely better than that of a politician.

He joked: ''I didn't take a penny of my salary during my terms. After all, it was petty cash compared to what you make in the movies.''

He added: ''Thank you all for coming. I'll be back.''

Why More Technology Makes Sci-Fi and Fantasy Movies Boring

Jul 23 2014 4:09pm CDT | Source: movie pilot

F1 Grand Prix of Bahrain - Practice
A little while ago I took it upon myself to have a second viewing of Ridley Scott's Prometheus, and while I find the movie to be decent enough, one thing in particular slightly bothered me; the technology. Now, when I say technology I mean both the technology used to create the film, and the technology within the film, why exactly does it all bother me? Allow me to explain.CGI and the Death of Pract ...

One FX Shot In ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Took 1030 Iterations

Jul 14 2014 11:00am CDT | Source: slash film

'El Amanecer del Planeta de los Simios' Madrid Premiere
One of my favorite shots in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes involves an ape taking control of a tank and running amuck in post apocalyptic San Francisco. Its great because of the way its presented — the sequence appears to be a single shot mounted from the back of the tank turret. During my conversation with director Matt Reeves, he talked a bit about the frustrating long process of waiting over a year to finally see the final vision rea ...

Transformers 4 Now Highest Grossing Movie in China Ever

Jul 9 2014 10:57am CDT | Source: movie pilot

Paramount might be having a hard time with some of their Chinese sponsors, but I very doubt they're regretting getting involved in the Chinese movie industry. As of yesterday, Transformers: Age of Extinction is now the highest grossing movie in China. Ever. This is pretty big deal considering China has its own, somewhat insulated movie industry, and until this week, local hit Lost In Thailand was sitting in second place. Last weekend Transformers 4 ...

Riders clad in traditional samurai attir
With the reboot Terminator: Genesis on the way (which still has ties to the original franchise storyline), there's no better time to be reminiscing about James Cameron's sci-fi action films. The 25th anniversary of Terminator 2: Judgment Day is just a couple years away, but some fans have paid tribute a little prematurely, and in a very cool way. For those who don't know, the sandbox city in the video game Grand Theft Auto V is ...
