Jennifer Lawrence thrilled to beat Meryl Streep at Golden Globes

Jan 14 2013, 10:14am CST | by

Jennifer Lawrence says the best thing about her Golden Globes win was beating Meryl Streep.

The 22-year-old star was named Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her role in 'Silver Linings Playbook' at the star-studded awards ceremony last night (13.01.13) and she was thrilled to have beaten 27-time nominee Meryl, who was put forward for 'Hope Springs'.

She quipped: ''What does this say? 'I beat Meryl!' ''

On a more serious note, Jennifer paid tribute to the cast and crew of 'Silver Linings Playbook', especially director David O Russell and co-star Bradley Cooper.

She said: ''David thank you for believing in me and giving me a chance.

''There's a reason why so many actors have thanked you from this stage, you are simply the best. Bradley, you are incredible and made me better every single day. Harvey, thank you for killing whoever you had to kill to get me up here today.

''And the entire cast of this movie: you guys are the heartbeat of this film. It wouldn't be the same without you guys... because then there wouldn't be a cast.''

The Giver Review: Does Dystopia Still Deliver?

Aug 15 2014 9:00am CDT | Source: movie fanatic

Bringing Lois Lowry’s Newbery Award winning The Giver to the big screen has been an almost two decade long effort. In hindsight, we wonder why -- given the fact that dystopian-set young adult novels are all the rage from The Hunger Games to Divergent and beyond. The Giver is finally in theaters and it features Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges leading the way, and a pair of up-and-comers as the two teen leads (Brenton Thwaites and Odeya Rush) wh ...

CBS has apparently settled on a replacement for The Late Late Show host as Craig Ferguson aims to depart the late night talk show this December.  The Wrap is reporting that English actor, comedian, and writer James Corden will take over The Late Late Show hosting duties in Ferguson’s stead, making for a somewhat surprising (and yet not surprising) choice.  Corden rose to prominence in the UK as the co-creator, co-writer, and star of the BBC sitcom Gavi ...
