Steven Spielberg's Robopocalypse gets postponed

Jan 10 2013, 4:10am CST | by

Steven Spielberg's next film 'Robopocalypse' has been postponed indefinitely.

The 'Lincoln' director was set to helm the futuristic sci-fi action film - with Chris Hemsworth and Anne Hathaway rumoured to star - but the project has now been put on hold.

Steven's spokesman Martin Levy said the project was ''too important and the script is not ready, and it's too expensive to produce. It's back to the drawing board to see what is possible.''

'Robopocalypse' already faced a setback as it was to be Steven's next film after 2011's 'War Horse' but was pushed back in favour of 'Lincoln', which recently received multiple BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations.

The Dreamworks production is thought to have had a budget of more than $100 million, and was to be distributed by Disney and Fox, marking Steven's first film with the latter studio in over a decade since 2002's 'Minority Report' starring Tom Cruise and Colin Farrell.

The film is based on Daniel H. Wilson's 2011 book of the same name about a band of humans who try to survive the decimation of the world's population by robots.

'Thor' star Chris and 'Les Miserables' actress Anne were to be joined by 'Skyfall' actor Ben Whishaw in the film, slated for a 2014 release.

Robert Downey Jr. Has Father Issues in New THE JUDGE Trailer

Sep 17 2014 12:17pm CDT | Source: Collider

Warner Bros. has released a new The Judge trailer for director David Dobkin’s upcoming drama, and it goes rather heavy on the sentimentality.  Robert Downey Jr. plays an attorney who returns home for his mother’s funeral only to learn that his estranged father (Robert Duvall), a judge who suffers from Alzheimer’s, has been accused of murder.  Reviews out of the film’s TIFF premiere weren’t great and this trailer lays on the schmaltz pretty hard, b ...

Red Band Society: Series Premiere Review

Sep 16 2014 11:10am CDT | Source: ign

Ahead of its premiere this Wednesday, Red Band Society has been largely described as the lovechild of Glee and Grey’s Anatomy, with The United States of Tara serving as the oddball uncle who comes knocking on holidays. The premise itself is simple: we follow a group of misfit kids and teens with terminal illnesses (like bone cancer and cystic fibrosis) as they live together in a hospital ward. There, they’re managed by hardened, hard-working people who love their job ...

Exclusive Clip from TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION’s Blu-ray/Digital Release Takes a Peek into the Mind, Method, and Madness of Michael Bay

Sep 16 2014 10:24am CDT | Source: Collider

The closest most people get to understanding the singular vision and unique method of Michael Bay's filmmaking is to simply watch his finished products.  Unfortunately, so much is lost in translation between the empty frame at the beginning of production and the overloaded insanity Bay packs into each and every scene by the movie's end.  While I was lucky enough to see Bay's process in action while o ...
