Alice Eve and Jeremy Irvine wowed by BAFTA performances

Jan 10 2013, 12:10am CST | by

Alice Eve and Jeremy Irvine are inspired by this year's crop of BAFTA nominees.

The British stars were awe-struck by some of the stand-out performances, especially from Joaquin Phoenix in gritty drama 'The Master', which earned him a Leading Actor nod, and Anne Hathaway's stellar take on Fantine, landing her a Supporting Actress nomination for 'Les Miserables'.

After announcing the shortlist at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' London headquarters this morning (09.01.13), 'Starter For Ten' actress Alice told BANG Showbiz: ''It's so satisfying when someone nails a performance. I know Jeremy felt that way about Joaquin Phoenix, I felt that way about Anne Hathaway and Marion Cotillard. I wept at Anne's performance!

''I think the Supporting Actress category with Anne, Amy Adams, Judy Dench, that's quite a tight category. I loved all their performances.''

Jeremy added: ''I think with Daniel Day-Lewis and Joaquin Phoenix in the best actor category, I certainly would be watching that. I thought Joaquin Phoenix delivered one of the most extraordinary performances that I've seen, it was almost flawless.''

The young actors admitted they follow their idols' progress ''meticulously'' to hone their craft and claimed watching a great performance on the big screen is the best way kick start their own career motivation.

Alice enthused: ''I read all their interviews and all the different methods everyone uses to get there.''

'War Horse' star Jeremy said: ''It's so nice as well to get inspiration, there's nothing like walking out of the cinema and thinking, 'Oh God, I just want to get my teeth into a script!''

Aug 21 2014 10:35am CDT | Source: Collider

The Woman in Black opened surprisingly big back in 2012, scoring $20.9 million during its opening weekend and then going on to lock in a grand total of $127.7 million worldwide.  With a $15 million production budget, the film clearly earned itself a sequel, but what’s another Woman in Black without Daniel Radcliffe?  Helen McCrory and Jeremy Irvine are certainly quality talent as well, but how can you expect them to draw the same crowd?  Then again, Radcliffe’s latest, What If, wou ...
