The British stars were awe-struck by some of the stand-out performances, especially from Joaquin Phoenix in gritty drama 'The Master', which earned him a Leading Actor nod, and Anne Hathaway's stellar take on Fantine, landing her a Supporting Actress nomination for 'Les Miserables'.
After announcing the shortlist at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' London headquarters this morning (09.01.13), 'Starter For Ten' actress Alice told BANG Showbiz: ''It's so satisfying when someone nails a performance. I know Jeremy felt that way about Joaquin Phoenix, I felt that way about Anne Hathaway and Marion Cotillard. I wept at Anne's performance!
''I think the Supporting Actress category with Anne, Amy Adams, Judy Dench, that's quite a tight category. I loved all their performances.''
Jeremy added: ''I think with Daniel Day-Lewis and Joaquin Phoenix in the best actor category, I certainly would be watching that. I thought Joaquin Phoenix delivered one of the most extraordinary performances that I've seen, it was almost flawless.''
The young actors admitted they follow their idols' progress ''meticulously'' to hone their craft and claimed watching a great performance on the big screen is the best way kick start their own career motivation.
Alice enthused: ''I read all their interviews and all the different methods everyone uses to get there.''
