Josh Brolin cast in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For

Jan 9 2013, 10:18am CST | by

Josh Brolin will play the lead in 'Sin City: A Dame To Kill For'.

The Oscar-nominated actor has been cast as central character Dwight McCarthy in co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's prequel to 2005 blockbuster 'Sin City', taking over from Clive Owen who played the hero in the original crime thriller.

The filmmakers said: ''Dwight is a constant character throughout the Sin City world and 'A Dame To Kill For' is a defining episode in his life. We're looking forward to Josh's take on Dwight.''

Dwight - one of the best-loved characters from Miller's original graphic novels - will be hunted down by the only woman he has ever loved, Ava Lord, before he ''watches his life go straight to hell'', according to Collider.com. The evil 'Dame' has yet to be cast.

'Gangster Squad' star Josh, 44, is also joined by 'Law & Order' actor Christopher Meloni, who will draw upon his TV experience to play a dodgy cop.

Josh last appeared in 'Men in Black 3' alongside Will Smith and is renowned for his Academy Award nominated 2008 performance in Gus Van Sant's 'Milk'.

It was recently reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is negotiating a ''core'' role as 'Johnny' in the film noir style feature, a part originally offered to Johnny Depp.

Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Dennis Haysbert and Jamie Chung also star.

'Sin City: A Dame To Kill For' is set for release in October 2013.

Sin City A Dame to Kill For Review: Sinful, And Not in a Good Way

Aug 22 2014 9:15am CDT | Source: movie fanatic

It may have taken nine years to follow up Sin City, but Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller are back at it again with Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and it does have several things going for it. The cast is clearly much more comfortable acting in a green screen environment than there were for the first one. And the technology to create a world that completely doesn’t exist except in the mind of a graphic n ...

‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ Review

Aug 22 2014 7:30am CDT | Source: Screen Rant

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is a jumbled but still enjoyable followup that, for most moviegoers, arrives on the scene too late. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For presents another glimpse at the twisted stories of Frank Miller’s BaSin City, where crime lords and crooked politicians compete for control of the streets. In a place like Sin City, savage thugs Marv (Mickey Rourke) and Dwight McCarthy (Josh Brolin) can be heroes – inflicting rage and a thirst for violence on scumbag ...

Another ‘Inherent Vice’ Image Captures a Shaggy, Carefree Joaquin Phoenix

Aug 21 2014 6:30pm CDT | Source: Slash Film

A second image has arrived from Paul Thomas Anderson‘s Inherent Vice. And while it’s very much in the vein of the first (above) the shot is a good chance to pass along comments about the movie from someone who’s seen it. I’m becoming tremendously excited for this one; just the prospect of having PTA adapt a Thomas Pynchon novel makes me giddy. Of all the things to fancast and dream of seeing, a proper Pynchon film has been at the forefr ...

Why Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is the film you should watch this week - video

Aug 21 2014 2:30am CDT | Source: the guardian

The best role in Sin City: A Dame for Kill For goes not to Josh Brolin, nor Eva Green, but the corrupt city itself. Henry Barnes recommends diving into the dirt with the flawed heroes and back-stabbing broads of Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez's sequel. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is out in the UK tomo ...

‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ Red Band TV Spot, 3D Featurette & Poster

Aug 15 2014 12:22pm CDT | Source: screen rant

It’s been a quiet decade for Basin City, but directors Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez are bringing Marv, Nancy, Dwight and most of the rest of the gang back this fall in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. The sequel, which was shot in 3D, also introduces Eva Green as femme fatale Ava Lord, the “dame to kill for” herself, who seduces her old lover Dwight McCarthy (Josh Brolin) into a dangerous trap. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, like the first movie, will feature a numbe ...

Eva Green sizzles in new teaser for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For

Aug 15 2014 1:52am CDT | Source: Total Film

A new teaser has arrived online for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, in which Eva Green vamps it up as the film’s premiere femme fatale. This new video establishes her link to Josh Brolin’s Dwight, and includes a snippet of their potentially censor-bothering sex scene, before she gets down to the real business of what she wants… Needless to say, it involves having Dwight kill somebody, and unfortunately for Dwight, he seems very easily manipulated. Take a look at the new teaser ...

See Eva Green Go Noir in an Exclusive Clip From 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For'

Aug 13 2014 12:12pm CDT | Source: yahoo

Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez’s first Sin City movie sure felt like film noir reborn, but it lacked one key element: the femme fatale. The sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, makes up for it plenty with Eva Green’s Ava Lord, who is also the film’s titular dame. Josh Brolin, in many ways the conscience of Basin City, plays Dwight McCarthy (Clive Owen in the first film), a private eye who earns his paychecks snapping pics of adulte ...
