Arnold Schwarzenegger put through his paces in The Last Stand

Jan 9 2013, 12:12am CST | by

Arnold Schwarzenegger was bruised black and blue filming 'The Last Stand'.

The 65-year-old actor says he was put through his paces in his first major role since leaving office as Governor of California in South Korean director Jee-woon Kim's thriller and felt it was an exhilarating return to form for his action hero credentials.

He said: ''From the beginning to the end I was punching, I was shooting, I was running, I was climbing, I was falling, I was kicked, I was beaten, I was in cars, I was in crashes... and it was from beginning to end.

''I did a lot of the chase scenes, a lot of the fast driving - I love driving fast. There was one chase scene through a cornfield, I'd never really seen a chase through a cornfield, but let me tell you, it is an experience as a driver.''

The muscular star would never have imagined he would be undertaking such physically demanding roles at his age, especially ones involving vertically-challenging stunts, but he soon found himself hanging upside down in a harness.

Arnold joked to FlicksandBits.com: ''After the Governorship, I felt I would have to ease myself back into action, one step at a time. But that is not what happened. I remember visiting a movie set as Governor and seeing one of the actors hanging upside down in a harness.

''A friend of mine asked me, 'Don't you miss that?' and I said, 'No, I'd rather be in Sacramento, surrounded by legislators who are not always on your side and can make things very difficult, but I'd rather do that than hang upside down on a harness. I just can't see myself ever doing that again.' Well, sure enough, in this movie I hang upside down on a harness!''

SABOTAGE Blu-ray Review

Jul 16 2014 8:00am CDT | Source: Collider

Arnold Schwarzenegger Sighting At Innsbruck
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s return to the big screen can’t be called much of a comeback as The Last Stand, Escape Plan and Sabotage were all bombs.  Sabotage tanked the hardest as it was barely able to cross the ten million dollar mark.  Perhaps Arnie will regain his footing from his role in the upcoming Terminator sequel, but it seems unlikely that he will ever front a non-sequel again (or at least for another five years).  That’s too bad as Sabotage is a fun throwback to hi ...

Arnold Schwarzenegger Sighting At Innsbruck
With all of the dysfunction in Washington right now we have to ask ourselves, what makes a good political leader? And on this site - we ponder, what does being a famous action movie star have to do with governing? Well to start, it is rare when actors crossover into other careers and find the same notoriety they held as actors. Jesse “the body” Ventura and Arnold Schwarzenegger both became state governors after their careers in acting; and they both acted together twice. In the Runn ...

Natalie Portman Visits "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon"
Ever since the idea of Mars One spread over the mass media like jelly on toast, it turned out that at least 70 000 people are in love with Mars - so much that they're ready to leave our humble Earth forever, and spend the rest of their lives on that planet-sized desert. While this is no doubt a great opportunity and an extraordinary leap for science and social development, it opens a lot of questions of value, like "Why dreams want to take us to anothe ...

Freditorial: How Movies & TV Warp Our Relationships, But They Don't Have To

Jun 8 2014 11:34pm CDT | Source: movie pilot

"The Long Shrift" Opening Night - After Party
Movies and TV once had me worried I was doing relationships wrong. Then life showed me a better way. From the tragedy of the USCB shooter, I’m glad we’re finally having a discussion about entitlement as it relates to misogyny, and the media’s effect on our expectations. Entitlement, combined with a lack of compassion, leads to anger and violence. My hope is these conversations can remain compassionate, because if movies are making someone feel like the ...
