Arnold Schwarzenegger put through his paces in The Last Stand

Jan 9 2013, 12:12am CST | by

Arnold Schwarzenegger was bruised black and blue filming 'The Last Stand'.

The 65-year-old actor says he was put through his paces in his first major role since leaving office as Governor of California in South Korean director Jee-woon Kim's thriller and felt it was an exhilarating return to form for his action hero credentials.

He said: ''From the beginning to the end I was punching, I was shooting, I was running, I was climbing, I was falling, I was kicked, I was beaten, I was in cars, I was in crashes... and it was from beginning to end.

''I did a lot of the chase scenes, a lot of the fast driving - I love driving fast. There was one chase scene through a cornfield, I'd never really seen a chase through a cornfield, but let me tell you, it is an experience as a driver.''

The muscular star would never have imagined he would be undertaking such physically demanding roles at his age, especially ones involving vertically-challenging stunts, but he soon found himself hanging upside down in a harness.

Arnold joked to FlicksandBits.com: ''After the Governorship, I felt I would have to ease myself back into action, one step at a time. But that is not what happened. I remember visiting a movie set as Governor and seeing one of the actors hanging upside down in a harness.

''A friend of mine asked me, 'Don't you miss that?' and I said, 'No, I'd rather be in Sacramento, surrounded by legislators who are not always on your side and can make things very difficult, but I'd rather do that than hang upside down on a harness. I just can't see myself ever doing that again.' Well, sure enough, in this movie I hang upside down on a harness!''

Oct 20 2014 5:19pm CDT | Source: First Showing

Fans will see Eddie Murphy get back into Axel Foley mode soon enough with Beverly Hills Cop 4 on the way. Plus, there's still that Twins sequel in the works that will team him up with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito in the cleverly titled Triplets. But before he makes a couple more comedies, he's going to take some time to get into drama briefly. In what will be his first non-animated, non-comedy role since the 20 ...

Who's Really to Blame for Batman and Robin - and THOSE Bat-Nipples?

Oct 15 2014 9:45am CDT | Source: movie pilot

When it comes to superhero movies, there don't come many more epic, genre-defining - and universally panned - than Batman and Robin. After all, Joel Schumacher's 1997 Bat-flick is now arguably the defining example of big-budget, studio-influenced, merchandising-sales-led superhero film-making - and a consistently popular punchline and punching bag for Bat-fans everywhere. Most of which, in fairness, is pretty reasonable - since the movie is...not great. Also, Bat- ...

TERMINATOR: GENISYS Will Probably Be Rated PG-13; Not a Sequel or a Reboot

Oct 9 2014 10:12am CDT | Source: Collider

Paramount Pictures is already feeling pretty bullish on its new Terminator film, Terminator: Genisys (that subtitle is still idiotic), as they recently staked out release dates for two sequels to drop in 2017 and 2018, with the plan to shoot them back-to-back.  We still know very little about the nature of Genisys (*shudder*), but we do know that the lead actors are playing Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke), Kyle Reese (J ...

Underworld 5 Will Focus on Theo James' David

Sep 11 2014 6:52pm CDT | Source: movie fanatic

We reported recently that Underworld was looking to reboot and with the news today that the vampire played by Theo James, David, will be the focal point -- now we are wondering. Perhaps Underworld is rebooting in the same way that Terminator is with Genesys in that there will be a new actors cast around one familiar face (Arnold Schwarzenegger)? While James is busy working on the Divergent s ...
