JJ Abrams: Star Trek Into Darkness is positive

Dec 27 2012, 4:24am CST | by

J.J. Abrams says 'Star Trek Into Darkness' will make people feel ''happier''.

The director admitted the movie explores some ''darkness'' but he never wants to make audiences leave the cinema feeling unhappy, suggesting the film will have a positive ending.

He said: ''I don't like going to the movies to feel bad.

''I don't like going to the movies to feel depressed and feel diminished. The reason you go to the movies is to feel bigger and stronger and happier.

''So this is a movie that they certainly go 'Into Darkness', but I would be the wrong director if it was about characters staying there.

''This is very much a movie about hope, about love, about romance, and about facing something that is truly terrifying and finding a way through the connection of your family and surviving and being stronger afterwards.''

The filmmaker also insisted that people who haven't seen his first film in the space adventure series will not be at a disadvantage if they watch the new movie.

He added to IO9: ''This movie doesn't require you have seen the first movie.''

'Star Trek Into Darkness' is due to be released on May 17, 2013.

Though the rise of digital photography only began a little over a decade ago, the switch to digital has been on an exponential rise in the past few years, which has seen traditional film violently sidelined.  One might think it’d be beneficial to all to have a choice between shooting on digital or on film, and it is, but the final say really comes down to a business decision on the studio’s part.  Shooting digitally is n ...

Simon Pegg Still Won’t Say He’s Not In ‘Star Wars Episode VII’

Jul 29 2014 6:45pm CDT | Source: slash film

Simon Pegg won’t appear in Star Wars Episode VII, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be part of the film in some other way. In a recent interview, Pegg continued to say what he’s always said about the film. He’s a huge fan, he’s friends with writer director J.J. Abrams, he’s visited the set, but him appearing would take people out of the movie.
