Hugh Jackman's Les Miserables bond

Dec 24 2012, 10:10am CST | by

Hugh Jackman bonded with his 'Les Miserables' co-stars more than on any other movie he's done.

The 'Wolverine' actor - who plays Jean Valjean in the film adaptation of the musical - insists he had the biggest ''feeling of ensemble'' he's every experienced while shooting a motion picture, partly because the cast were entering the ''unknown'' by filming a musical movie.

He said: ''I don't think I've ever been a part of a movie where it had such a feeling of ensemble. We really bonded as a group, I think partly because of the nature of the material, partly because we had nine weeks of rehearsal - which very few movie companies or directors will allow access to have. And I think also, we were all not only fans of the musical, but we were also aware we were doing something that's never been done before.

''It's a little nerve-wracking, it's partly an unknown - but there's nothing like that to bring everyone together.''

Hugh featured alongside a star-studded cast including Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter in 'Les Miserables', and he counts himself as ''incredibly lucky'' to have starred in the film.

When asked if there was a particular day of filming which stood out to him, he added to FlicksandBits.com: ''The very last scene of the movie. It was shot right near the end. I was standing with Anne Hathaway, who's a great friend of mine, and I was watching her because she was losing a lot of weight at the time for the particular part in the movie.

''And I just looked out ... there was the barricades, 300 extras, and this massive big field where we were singing the ending. It just struck me how incredibly lucky we all were to be in a musical, because they don't happen very often.

''And also incredibly lucky to be singing live, because that happens even less often on a film. Just thinking about how close we all had become. And the music ... it was hair on the back of the neck time!''

Kevin Feige Teases Possible Avengers / Guardians of the Galaxy Crossover

Jul 21 2014 9:30am CDT | Source: slash film

Premiere Of Marvel's "Guardians Of The Galaxy" - Red Carpet
Guardians of the Galaxy takes place literally worlds away from The Avengers, and yet both superhero teams occupy the same universe at the same time and even know some of the same people. It wouldn’t be totally inconceivable for them to cross paths at some point, and recent comments from Kevin Feige suggest they may do just that. If you’re holding out hope for the either group to join forces with the X-Men, however, you’re probably out of luck. In the same intervie ...

’90s Redux: Bill Nighy May Be Broadway-Bound In Hare’s ‘Skylight’; `Master Class’ Helmer Mike Nichols Talks Shop for HBO

Jul 11 2014 9:58am CDT | Source: Deadline

Carey Mulligan & Alexander Skarsgard Visit "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon"
The Union Jack will be flying over Broadway big-time this coming season, as talk heats up about bringing Bill Nighy, Carey Mulligan and the acclaimed National Theatre revival of David Hare’s Skylight to New York in the spring. I wrote a few weeks ago that while the production will be telecast in the fall by NT Live, far better would be the chance to see Hare’s extraordinarily moving play — about the expired romance between an older, self-made businessman and an ideal ...

RATINGS RAT RACE: Tony Awards, NBA Finals Game 2 On Par With Last Year

Jun 9 2014 10:26am CDT | Source: Deadline

TimesTalks Presents: "Hedwig And The Angry Inch" With Neil Patrick Harris, John Cameron Mitchell And Stephen Trask
This year’s NBA Finals are starting to feel like a rerun. The same two teams are following the same win pattern — the San Antonio Spurs took Game One, followed by a Miami Heat victory in Game 2 — to the same ratings results. Last night’s second game drew a 10.2 overnight rating in the metered markets households, matching last year’s Game 2 overnight rating. Like last year, Game 2 faced the Tony Awards on CBS. There was a also an element of deja vu at the ...

Can we all just take a moment and reflect on how weird it is that the X-Men film continuity is still moving along after 15 years?
