Samuel L. Jackson slams M. Night Shyamalan

Dec 21 2012, 12:52pm CST | by

Samuel L. Jackson has slammed his 'Unbreakable' director M. Night Shyamalan.

The 64-year-old actor believes the filmmaker hasn't produced a good movie since their 2000 thriller collaboration, and admitted he is unsure what happened to the proposed sequels to the film.

He told the Huffington Post: ''There was supposed to be three. I don't know [what happened to the sequels].

''You'll have to ask the brilliant director who wrote it and didn't do the rest of them. I mean, he hasn't made a really good movie since then.''

'Unbreakable' was the director's first work after the smash success of 'The Sixth Sense', and Samuel believes the movie's commercial failure was similar to that experienced by Quentin Tarantino after he followed blockbuster 'Pulp fiction' with the less-popular 'Jackie Brown'.

He added: ''He suffered from what happened to Quentin when he made 'Jackie Brown'. He didn't make 'Pulp Fiction 2', he made 'Jackie Brown' - which is a wonderful f**king movie.

'''Unbreakable' also didn't have the numbers of 'I see dead people'. That was a problem for him... for his ego and the studio, also.''

Despite his belief there would be a market for a second 'Unbreakable' film, the 'Django Unchained' actor doesn't believe Shyamalan would want to make it.

He said: ''Everybody would be waiting for it, yeah. It would be crazy for it. It would trend through the roof now on Twitter. But Quentin makes movies that Quentin wants to see. I don't think M. Night makes movies for the same reason.

''[With Shyamalan] there's, you know, 'I'm smarter than everybody coming to watch my movie'. Quentin's not that. He's just, 'I want you to love my movie. I want you to love it and enjoy it because this is f**king cool'.''
