Rebel Wilson to host 2013 MTV Movie Awards

Dec 21 2012, 6:22am CST | by

Rebel Wilson will host the 2013 MTV Movie Awards.

The Australian comedienne has been chosen to entertain the crowds at the annual Los Angeles based-awards show, after gaining notoriety for her laugh-out-loud performances in hit comedies 'Bridesmaids' and 'Pitch Perfect'.

The bubbly star will also have a special role in a satirical narrative which will play throughout the event, set to be filmed at Sony Pictures Studios Lot in Culver City, California on April 14.

A promotional trailer has emerged in which she plays a hostage - held captor by 'Little Britain' star Matt Lucas - hiding a chocolate bar in her mouth as a snack.

Previous hosts of the kooky awards show - which distributes popcorn-shaped gongs with categories like ''best kiss'' and ''best fight'' - include Lindsay Lohan, Mike Myers and Jimmy Fallon. The MTV Movie Awards usually pay tribute to popular blockbusters usually overlooked by critics.

Rebel, 28, recently admitted a risque casting call in which she pretended to take cocaine through her belly button helped score her big Hollywood break alongside Kristen Wiig, Rose Byrne and Melissa McCarthy in Judd Apatow's hit comedy 'Bridesmaids'.

She said: ''I started talking to Kristen Wiig and saying the most ridiculous things. It ended up with us pretending that we were at a wedding and I was doing cocaine through my belly button. They never yelled 'Cut!'.

''It was always my dream to come to America and be in movies. It's so weird that it's kind of come true.''

The MTV Movie Awards will air at 9pm on MTV UK on April 15.

These Sequels That Should Not Be Made

Jul 16 2014 8:08am CDT | Source: movie pilot

Why do we need these sequels to movies. I'm not going to mention Avatar 2 because I have already ranted about that but that shouldn't be made either.1. Snow White and The HuntsmanWhy it shouldn't be remade: Snow White and The Huntsman was a good movie. Boring at times but all around it was alright. That doesn't justify a sequel. What is the movie going to be about anyway? We saw her becoming queen and looking at Chris Hemsworth as if to say "Okay, let' ...
