Mark Wahlberg to produce hacker thriller

Dec 13 2012, 4:14am CST | by

Mark Wahlberg is to produce an as-yet untitled thriller about a hacker.

The 'Broken City' actor could also take on a role in the Universal movie, which is being scripted by co-producer Jonathan Herman based on a piece written by David Kushner for GQ magazine called 'The Hacker Is Watching'.

The real-life case saw students at a large US high school targeted by a ruthless, skilled hacker who gained access to their computers and managed to set up the webcams on their laptops to film them unawares, as well as sending malware and various other rogue files to the machines.

Mark and Jonathan have previously produced 'Contraband' for Universal and are also developing action comedy 'Bait and Switch' and thriller 'The Disciple Program' for the studio.

Mark can next be seen starring in 'Broken City', '2 Guns', and 'Lone Survivor', and was recently linked with a role in 'Transformers 4'.

Director Michael Bay - who helmed the first three films in the franchise - previously dismissed speculation the 'Ted' star is going to be in the forthcoming movie but the filmmaker has now hinted the 41-year-old star could appear in the motion picture after rumours presented him with the idea to cast Mark.

In a post on his personal website, Michael wrote: ''I squashed a rumor that was on the internet last week. It was about Mark Walhberg. Mark was rumored to be staring in Transformers 4. We are working on another movie together, not T4.

''I had such a great time working with Mark on 'Pain and Gain', and he gave such a great performance - well let's say that very internet chatter gave me some ideas. We are at the inception of our story process right now on T4. Let's say some ideas are gaining traction with me and my writer - so I'm here to say thanks internet chatter.''

‘Transformers 4′ Preview: Mark Wahlberg’s Cade Yeager

Jun 18 2014 11:16am CDT | Source: screen rant

106 & Park Live
Apologies in advanced: This is one of those preview featurettes for Transformers: Age of Extinction that is painfully short on robots, dinosaur robots and robots riding dinosaur robots, and is instead more focused on… the human element. “Best aspect of Michael Bay’s Transformers films…” said no fan ever. We at least have the hope and potential that comes with novelty; in this new start to a new trilogy, we get new human protagonists in the form of wannabe inventor Cade Yeager (Mark ...

EMMYS: For Food Shows, It’s More Than What’s In The Kitchen

2013 Creative Arts Emmy Awards - Press Room
Diane Haithman is a contributor to Deadline Hollywood Could this year’s Emmy Reality and Reality-Competition categories turn into a food fight? Perhaps more important: Should there be a law preventing a chef from wrapping zucchini around a toasted marshmallow, creating the S’More from hell (observed in a recent installment of Chopped)? The stage — or should we say table — has been set. In 2010, Bravo’s Top Chef  knocked The Amazing Race off its 7-year pede ...

‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’: Meet Lockdown & the Dinobots

Jun 15 2014 12:57pm CDT | Source: Screen Rant

106 & Park Live
One of the most anticipated aspects of Transformers: Age of Extinction is the Dinobots – Transformers that change into dinosaurs rather than automobiles – since they are new to the Transformers film franchise. Early trailers and posters largely focused on well-known Transformers like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee (in addition to human stars Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci), but as the premiere date for Age of Extinction inches closer, fans are getting more ...
